In the Bible, we learn that angels are made of "spirit." But "spirit" isn't defined. But it seems that when angels appear on earth, they take on physical properties similar to that of flesh. "Spirit" takes on the properties of some form of matter in our 10 dimensional world. And then we read the rather curious remarks that men have "entertained angels" without even being aware. And that angels have also eaten and drank with men. So do we eat and drink in Heaven? Is food or fluids even something that the "spirit" body necessitates? Am I the only one that lays in bed at night, thinking about things like this?

Well they say that the manna that the Israelites ate during the exodus was also referred to as "angels food". The angels of God that went to destroy Sodom and Gommorah ate food that Abraham had prepared for them by Sarah. Jesus when He appeared to the apostles ate fish with them. So yes I say we eat and drink in our spirit bodies similar to how we eat now.

You mean the girls won't be doing the Cooking????

Jesus ate in his new body....... So, we will eat and drink. Having a new body I am not sure of any new nutritional requirements we may have.

Robster, you're not the only one who wonders about things like this. I guess when your current body is so tied to eating (and enjoys it that much), you tend to think about things like that. Brother gumby there gave the verses that suggest manna is a part of the heaven diet and then Brother Templar81 made another great point. I don't know that we'll have quite the strenuous requirements of nutrition like we currently have here on Earth, but I think any crop will yield abundantly (based on the Genesis account amongst other places). Ezekiel 40 and following discuss the Millennium and they speak about offerings and the priests eating the food, so I think there will be some degree of food up there.

Thanks for the scripture references. :)

Glad to hear you wonder about that too. I know we get new bodies too but I wonder if we will all receive bodies like Adonises in order to eliminate physical envy? Or maybe envy no longer becomes something that's part of our character. It would be so nice not to have so many of the feelings we have in this human nature. Even at times I'm disgusted with myself and what I feel.

I'm always thinking of I Corinthians 15 in that regard:

    I Corinthians 15:40-4
There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is of one kind, and the glory of the earthly is of another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory. So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

    I Corinthians 15:53
For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.

To me, Paul makes it a point to distinguish the two, so I think it safe to say a lot of the failings of this flesh won't be an issue with that spiritual body. I've always struggled with the lack of marriage part - I'm trying hard to imagine a world where I'm not married to my wife. I think part of that discussion is that everything will be so well off there will be no fear. I guess it's like whereas now you're concerned about her driving to work or just the bad things that could happen in this world - well those things are all gone. I've always felt folks will be recognizable based on passages in Ezekiel 40 and beyond, but I haven't put too much thought into the specifics beyond that.

We know (factually) that there will be no death. That eliminates physical ailments that lead to death and then we have the other passages about other elements. You're dealing with a body that is not going to get sick, not going to get tired, not going to hurt, etc. As far as exactly what it will look like physically, I'm not sure. However, that description above seems to suggest it will be a "perfect" form more or less.

    HammerStone:

Luk 20:34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
Luk 20:35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
Luk 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

I would not just get ready to Chuck the wife once you get your new shiny Body. We make a assumption that by these scriptures we are not married in Heaven. Jesus did not say that. Jesus said you will not be given in marriage or marry in Heaven. Which means we do not make covenants with someone else to serve them and be their partner. We focus on God, and the things he has.

This still does not mean we divorce in Heaven. Jesus did not say anything about getting rid of anyone, or breaking that marriage covenant. The wife that served God with you now, MAY still be in the plans to continue with you. We do have things to do 1,000 years while Jesus is on earth.

Now, what if we had been unstable in life, and had several wives?

    Jesus said.

    Joh 4:17
The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
Joh 4:18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.

Jesus called each person this women married a Husband. Jesus considered all five husbands as valid, but did not consider being shacked up as valid. So, the last one married to would be the valid one.

That is just one thing to consider..............

We just can not say that we loose a wife though, we are just told we will not Marry once we are there.

We are one flesh with a wife, but our flesh changes to something better. Does this mean we are no longer one flesh if that new flesh is not covenanted together in marriage?

One thing is sure, we get mansions, and sharing that mansion with your wife would not be a issue, as she will be there and you will know her. I just think we don't need to make assumptions, as we are never told that our current spouse will not be part of the picture latter.

    Jesus Is Lord.

Well Brother Mike, I'm mainly responding because I get the feeling you think I'd like to "chuck the wife" which is not the case. I think you raise an interesting point and the phrase given in marriage can either be interpreted to mean the act or the institution. It seems obvious we'll know who is who, but I'm just not sure marriages will be retained. Just like the food part, I guess its one of those things we will have to see about, but I appreciate you outlining that part of things for us to consider.
