Most Americans say they wouldn't trust an American vaccine if it came out this year before the election. They are worried that Trump may be putting on pressure to get one out to help his election bid that it might not be safe.

Poll: Most Americans wouldn't take a COVID-19 vaccine before the election

A majority of Americans are concerned that a COVID-19 vaccine will be rushed to the market before it's ready because of political pressure from the Trump administration, according to a new poll from the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF).

Even if a vaccine is available before Election Day, 54 percent of respondents said they wouldn't take it.

The survey, released Thursday, found 62 percent of respondents said they were concerned about a vaccine being authorized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) before it is proven to be safe and effective. That number included 85 percent of Democrats, 61 percent of independents and 35 percent of Republicans.

If a vaccine were approved before Nov. 3 and made freely available to anyone who wanted it, about half of all respondents said they would not want to get vaccinated.

According to the poll, 56 percent of independents and 60 percent of Republicans said they would not get the vaccine, while 50 percent of Democrats said they would.

I think someone was lying to the pollsters. More Democrats than Republicans say they'd be worried; but they'd also be more willing to get vaccinated than Republicans. Does it make sense? The numbers would mean 15% of Democrats wouldn't worry about the safety but 50% would still get vaccinated. That suggests 35% of the worried Democrats figured it might not be safe, but then again it might be, so weighing the risks, they went with deciding to be vaccinated even if they didn't trust Trump.

On the other hand, 65% of the Republicans say they wouldn't worry about it, but only 40% would get vaccinated? I think 25% of them were lying -- they say they're not worried but still wouldn't get vaccinated? Or are they being reckless, not worrying about the safety of the vaccine or of getting Covid-19?

Or were 35% of the Democrats lying, pretending to be afraid of it trying to make Trump look bad while they got vaccinated anyway?

It could be that the independents were the most honest. Those numbers make more sense since 61% expressed concern and 56% said they wouldn't get vaccinated.

I wouldn't trust ANY vaccine no matter where or when it came out!! LOL

I tried 'trusting ' the regular flu shot years ago...every time the News announced -" This flu season unfortunately this years flu vaccine is not effective and was not one chosen for this seasons vaccine ."
I gave and never got another one...

No vaccine found for SARS after all this time...
No vaccine for for a list of things ..yet..why would any of us believe that this one will work...?

Just a load more junk pumped into our bodies and heaven knows what is incorporated along with it!!

Before, after, makes no difference to me. I wouldn't trust it. Not after the government has access to Nephalim DNA and conceal this. A marine friend heard from someone in SF while serving in Afghanistan that they encountered a Giant in a cave, killed it and then it was flown away to who knows where. Then 10 years later there is a video of this on YouTube.

Who's to say they wouldn't sneak in more than just the necessary DNA. This new vaccine isn't just dead viruses, like ones in the past. Perhaps they will not mess with it this time but the next pandemic.

I've stated my opinion before in more detail on why an effective vaccine won't be found...

But I can state it again...

Because this virus is from a class of viruses known as coronavirus...there has been no successful vaccine for this class of virus to date and I'd dare say that there won't be one for a while.
There are many strains of corona viruses running around now...one is associated with the common cold...but it isn't.
MERS and SARS and Ebola are all corona viruses...none have any vaccines that are effective without huge risks.

One by Astra Seneca has stopped in mid trials for some pre-suspected reasons.

I feel bad for those duped into taking part in the human trials. These things are like tattoos...they are expensive to get and even worse expensive to remove and are usually with you for a long time.

    also...
All in process except one currently being investigated requires two injections. Impossible to complete for most people.

Who knows indeed what might be in it. Two types are being researched. One type is based on stem-cells from a fetus that was aborted years ago. I think the vaccine being researched at Oxford is that type. Democrats might think that's okay, I don't know. Republicans say it's not okay, but the Trump administration was still funding this type of vaccine -- so the Republicans aren't talking about it.

The other type is different, I forget how.

Lots of people get vaccinated for the flu every year, and I don't think horrible things happen.

AstraZeneca just resumed their phase three trials. It had stopped when one woman got sick. They needed to find out what was wrong -- to see if it was an illness caused by something else or a side-effect of the vaccine.

AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine clinical trials resume in U.K. after pause over safety concerns

“The Company will continue to work with health authorities across the world and be guided as to when other clinical trials can resume to provide the vaccine broadly, equitably and at no profit during this pandemic,” AstraZeneca said in a statement.

The University of Oxford, which developed the vaccine in partnership with AstraZeneca, said Saturday that some 18,000 people have so far received the vaccination in trials.

“In large trials such as this, it is expected that some participants will become unwell and every case must be carefully evaluated to ensure careful assessment of safety,” Oxford said in a statement.

One person getting sick out of 18,000 people doesn't seem too risky; and I guess they found out her condition was caused by something else.

It's still a tale of caution...and they stopped immediately because they are expecting problems due to the history of corona virus vaccines.

Of course not all vaccines are so problematic. Most are great medical technology that saves millions of people every year. But this is "cutting edge" research....kinda like a phone app. Some work and some won't.

    I don't take drugs.

I would not take any vaccine, regardless of who developed it, or dispensed it.

Line up, let them INJECT you with poison...heck people do that everyday to be socially acceptable ...BOTOX!
Healthy and Fit is all the rage...get your Vaccine...you'll probably keep that Body alive forever!

I'm not an anti-vaxxer, but I would like the vaccine to be proved harmless first.

In rushing vaccines, there is quite a bit of risk.

I think most people have the same concern. Trump keeps talking about the possibility of having the vaccine so soon; but he doesn't seem to realize he's raising people's suspicions.

The pharmaceutical companies got in a panic and said they wouldn't taking shortcuts.

Well, it won't be Trump's vaccine will it. It will be some money motivated pharmaceutical company historically committed to making people unhealthy. Trump will try and talk it up... And the left leaning critics will vilify him and at the same time call anti vaxxers murderers of grandmothers.

He'll take credit for it; and if an American company develops one first, he'll control who gets it. The rest of the world is concerned about that.

I think the US government has ordered 800 million doses of vaccines. That's a lot more than there are people in the country; but they ordered from several companies, having funded some of them. Judging from how this administration has handled other things, my guess is they haven't even started planning how to distribute a vaccine or who should have priority. They'll wait until the last minute and then some bumbling bureaucrats will devise some system that confuses and frustrates people. It may be like the program to prevent evictions -- most people don't know how to use the program so they're getting evicted anyway. It could like the stimulus program that sent money to dead people and people living in Austria.

The scientific consensus is that a vaccine won't be ready until early 2021 if then.

Fear of the vaccine may be greater from the right-wingers than the left. I think both Democrats and Republicans may have lied answering that poll. A lot of QAnon people seem to be anti-vaxxers. It's strange since they also seem to support Trump.

There's a whole heap of assumptions there as if there's been a precedent. You are being very pessimistic I think based on your leftist mindset. And the rest of the world who you say are quivering in their boots as if Trump is deliberately aiming at killing everyone by deliberately depriving the rest of the world is patently ridiculous. Your entire opposition to Trump is politically motivated... You sound like a screaming BLM activist at s restaurant.

Being an anti vaxxer isn't a political stance. It's a medical one and a personal freedom one. It also had a strong base in personal faith and trust in God's provision through natural remedies and rejection of harmful poisons. It isn't a left/right thing.

It doesn't take much imagination wondering what the likes of Pelosi, Biden, and Harris et al would be saying if Trump was not promoting a vaccine. There is nothing he could do, right or wrong, that the left wouldn't lambast him for. At the beginning Trump talked up HCQ, and the left jumped on him no end. Then Trump backed away a bit and the left are now promoting it. I get the impression if Trump gave a speech that supported defunding the police, Pelosi would give one supporting the idea of police being given tanks for suburban patrols.
