You don't have to be a perfect person to be a Christian! This is one of the things that I thought before I became a christian. I thought you had to be perfect or God would reject you. This actually stopped me from becoming a christian for a good decade or more. Mostly because I didn't understand. God wants you just where you are. That means if you are a drunk or an addict, you don't need to try to quit drinking before you come to him. Are you addicted to porn? He can break that. Angry? Adulterer? Cheat, lie? He can fix all of this and save you from hell. He wants to. Once you come to him he will do all the work. You just need to step aside and let him work. This goes for any problem in this life you are struggling with. God will fix it if you let him. Jesus is the answer.

Christ dying on the cross did all the work that you think you have to do to fix yourself. Step aside and let him do it. Once you repent, or turn back to God, his spirit moves into your body and you are re-born spiritually. You just have to trust him to do all the work!

Satan has done a good job of making the world think Christianity is just a fantasy but I'm here to tell you it's not. It is very, very real and hell awaits the lost. No one would reject this if they truly knew what was at stake. Your very soul, your everlasting position in eternity. You can be with the one true living God in heaven or you can live in eternal flames with the devil and his angels. The choice is yours but don't let your perceived virtue or lack thereof be something to keep you from Christ. Christians are nothing but a bunch of very screwed up people/sinners that finally realized they needed help. Accept the free gift of God and step into life everlasting! All Satan can offer you is temporary pleasure, followed by death and Hell. God can give you anything as he created it all. If he keeps something from us it is for our own good. Just remember:

You don't have to be a perfect person to be a Christian!
In God we Trust!

Extremely good post @Mantis . This is so true. Lots of people are too ashamed of the bad stuff in their lives to believe that God loves them just as they are. Like the old hymn says, 'Just as I am . . . .'.

Thanks Pearl!:)
Its one thing I just absolutely love about our Lord. He loves all of us and he will accept ANYONE who repents! What an awesome God.

THE GREATEST TREASURE

The greatest treasure is God’s love;
A treasure vast as heaven above;
A treasure stored in Godly hearts,
That to the needy Christ imparts.

This love, loves those who are unclean,
As well as those who’re cruel and mean.
It loves the unjust and unkind,
Its love seeks out all who are blind.

It loves the ugly and the bad,
It loves the happy and the sad.
It love the healthy and the sick,
It loves the clever and the ‘thick’.

It loves the murderer and thief,
It loves all those who lack belief.
It loves the needy and the poor,
It loves the addict and the whore.

It loves the lonely and the lost,
It doesn’t stop to count the cost.
It reaches out with human hand
Both to the lowly and the grand.

It loves the sober and the drunk,
It loves the curser and the monk;
It sheds a light as bright as day
By which the sinner sees The Way.

This love will set the captive free,
This love saves sinners such as me,
This love is glorious and bright
And shines where can no earthly light.

Of course you do! If you were not a "perfect person" in the sight of God, you could not enter Heaven. So the perfection is what God places upon the Christian, so that he or she is deemed to be as righteous and perfect as Christ. This is called "imputed righteousness".

Christians are nothing but a bunch of very screwed up people/sinners that finally realized they needed help

It’s more appropriately stated this way my friend:

Christians WERE but a bunch of very screwed up people/sinners that finally realized they needed help.

Christians do this:

"…put off concerning the former manner of life of the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." (Ephesians 4:22-24)

Thanks be to God for taking our sins away and giving us the opportunity to start anew in a sinless new man!

You don't have to be a perfect person to be a Christian!
I have yet to meet anyone apart from Christ who is a perfect person. There is a school of thought among Christians that because Christ has forgiven all our sins therefore we are perfect, but this equates forgiveness of sins to sinless perfection, which is a fallacious conclusion that defies reality.

It is possible to achieve perfection in specific things, but Paul was all for pressing on toward complete perfection in Christ.

Philippians 3

12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize of God’s heavenly calling in Christ Jesus.15 All of us who are mature should embrace this point of view. And if you think differently about some issue, God will reveal this to you as well. 16 Nevertheless, we must live up to what we have already attained.

Mat 5:43-48 "You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.' (44) But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, (45) that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. (46) For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? (47) And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? (48) Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

I think that is a wide-spread belief.

Correct. The Lord Jesus did not come SEEKING perfect people. He came seeking SINNERS...the lost, the unknowing, the rejectors of God.

Correct. The Lord Jesus did not come to SAVE THE SAV-ED.

You don't have to be a perfect person to be a Christian!

Correct. Christ the Lord Jesus does the Perfecting.
He Perfects our soul, (restoring it to good).
He Perfects our spirit, (rebirthing out spirit with Gods Seed)
And our BODY? Crucified with Christ, and His risen perfect body, (given us to walk in).

Thus WE (the converted), are not perfect.
But WE are "perfected IN Christ", and set apart (sanctified), and fully Justified, According to God (and according to Gods works , ie the MAKING), to be RAISED UP, in a perfect, (uncorrupted), immortal, glorified, holy BODY.

Good Post,
Glory to God,
Taken
