Your understanding is the key to unlock the scriptures. The Lord uses what you understand about scripture to open to you the scriptures. It is His way of keeping the believer interested and hungering after the thing's of God. Never understood estimate your understanding, for one it is God given, and secondly, it is what opens the word of God to you.

So what you understand will lead you to a new faith, a new glory, and it is what transforms the mind. Christians can be quick to point out our differences in understanding, but the problem witg that is we are not seeing Jesus in another believer. What we see is they do not understand like I understand. We don't realize that is a hindrance to spiritual growth.

Not just that we are nit picking anothers understanding, but the reason we are doing it is the hindrance. The hindrance is not seeing through to Christ who is the life of every born again believer.

Some one might say; well you can tell their not born again. Ok I'm not really for sure how you know that, but lets say their not. You are still charged with seeing them created in the image and likeness of God with the responsible to treat them as if they were born again. Seeing them as you once were, lost and in need of a savior.

So you see understanding is so important to the believer to grow in grace and knowledge. All the scriptures we have of understanding say when you find understanding "bind it about your neck, for in it you have life." "Above all, get understanding" Author translation.

Understanding can be displayed like a beautiful piece of jewelry for others to see.

As with Lydia, it's the Lord who opens the heart, opens the understanding...

agreed, it's the Lord who open the heart for understanding. but we must be willing to hear the Word of God with open minds, example, Acts 17:10 "And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming [thither] went into the synagogue of the Jews.
Acts 17:11 "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Acts 17:12 "Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.
