Day 4
Ecclesiastes 12:1
“Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near when you will say, "I have no delight in them"
A warning call to all, especially the young! We see here that it is of the utmost importance that we determine that we will have no part in the ways of the wicked. Who will we serve? How will we stand? These are questions that demand answers! We must take advantage of our youth, studying diligently to understand what the scriptures teach about life, and love, and wealth, and we must stand firmly on these principles! We must not waiver! The Hebrew word for remember is Zakar, and it means to keep continually in the front of your mind, to remember without ceasing. Christ must become the focus of every thought we Think, if our minds are to be strong enough to resist worldly temptation! If we do not make it our personal mission to know God and His word, and what He commands us to do with our lives as soon as we possibly can, we will be subjected to the Prince of lies, to whom none can stand alone. In John bunyan’s Pilgrim's Progress, Christian is forced to cover his ears and scream “Life, Life, Eternal life!!” as he fled from the World. We too must study diligently, all the while searching indeed for the eternal life promised to all who truly seek. The years will come indeed when the world knocks on our door, offering things that will tempt every aspect of our minds and bodies. Will we have the strength to stand, the life eternal on which to cling? Will we have enough knowledge of God to combat them through His word? We must give up whatever is commanding control of our thoughts, and instead pursue life, life, eternal life.
Verses for further reflection:
