How to Test the Spirits?

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

There are indeed many false spirits and false prophets out in the world today, which are deceiving many. So how can we recognize a false spirit or the spirit of a false prophet or teacher and don’t be taken in by them. And how do we test them?

Well the Bible lists a series of tests that can be applied to test the spirits or prophets to determine whether they are genuine or not. Taken individually, it is possible to counterfeit many of these tests, but collectively, they provide an impassable barrier to these false spirits or prophets, as even in Bible times we see them at work.

Acts 16:16
And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:

Those with these false spirits can quote scripture or have demons help them and have some of their 'divinations' come true, but they can still be false and lead God's people astray. John says that we must test the spirits to see whether they are from God and this means that we must test what the spirits are saying, or doing, or telling us to say. So lets see the tests..

1) A true spirit or prophet's message will be in complete harmony with the word of God and the law of God.
Isaiah 8:20
To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

2) A true spirit or prophet's will produce the attributes given us in the scripture, goodness, righteousness and truth as well as love and more.
Ephesians 5:9
(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth
Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance:..

3) A true spirit or prophet gives counsel to edify the church, and has a grace and wisdom from God.
Luke 2:40
And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
1 Corinthians 14:3-5
3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
5 I would that ye all spake with tongues but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

4) A true spirit or prophet will exalt Christ as the Son of God and the Saviour of mankind, and lift up the church, the body of Christ.
1 John 4:11-15
12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

Ephesians 2:11-13
11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world
13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

5) The true spirit or prophet will bear good fruit and give Gods truth with great authority.

Matthew 7:20
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Matthew 7:29
For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Mark 1:22
And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.

Luke 1:17
And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Jesus is the supreme example, and He spoke those things which He had seen and heard from the Father, and we see the spirit preparing and turning the people to Christ.

1 John 4:6 Lexicon: We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

Consider Corinthians 13:5 …whether they will “hear” the “do no wrong. Do what is right, even though we (still) appear unto you as reprobates(those who are weak). This we do for your edification.” Or will they turn away from an outstretched hand, giving the back when coming together “face to face”; while their walking away in denial claiming “we love God” while in the same token, “if you hate your brother, how is the Love of God in you?”

2 Corinthians 13:5 speaks of examine yourselves, whether you be in the Faith.
All of that passage of their wanting proof of Christ speaking in Paul —their wanting Paul’s proof the spirit in him is from God where —“John says that we must test the spirits to see whether they are from God and this means that we must test what the spirits are saying, or doing, or telling us to say. So let’s see the tests.”
In reading through all the things you quoted above …in their test towards Paul of whether he was of the One True Spirit or speaking falsehoods of a spirit of error….to me 2 Corinthians 13:5- all the way through ‘we will be weak, that you be made strong. This we do, for your perfecting.’ —-doesn’t fail any of the above that you listed. (Imo) Paul speaks of the one True and correct Spirit toward the Corinthians…provoking them to Love. “Although we appear unto you (still) as those who fail the test, I trust you will see we do not fail the test” —-even though we appear unto you as “reprobates” “do no wrong. Do what is right.” Even Romans fits here in ‘Hope in what is not yet seen’ and also how the Spirit of God makes intercession on behalf of the saints and how it is God who knows the spirit of a man. Here Paul stands reaching out to the Corinthians —hoping they have “ears to hear” same as the passage you spoke from that they will hear if the spirit of God is within. For it is God who searches the hearts knowing the spirit of a man. In testing the Corinthians, provoking them to love …Paul says (inspired by the one who became weak that we be made strong in Him) that ‘we do this not for your destruction but FOR your edification—be you made complete.”

Thanks for your thoughts but for me I am putting my focus on getting to know the Creators, Who are Spirit, of being guided by this Spirit.

The writings and teachings of the bible were very beneficial for a time but for me tht season is over.

I am enjoying being taught, not by the teachings of the teachers in the bible but the direct teaching of the Spirit.

It has taken a while to learn not to rely on the bible teachers, but rather to depend on the Teacher of teachers, the Spirit of Truth Who leads us in ALL truth.

The teachers of the past served to point us to the Teacher so that we have no need of them. Then we who are beening taught directly by the Divine Teacher can teach others how to enter into a personal direct daily relationship with this fantastic Teacher, Guide, Leader, Encourager (make disciples of the Teacher).

Unfortunately the tendency is to make people disciples of the bible or bible teachers.

For the record, we both are not worshiping the same God, similar like the other sects out there besides the Jews. That's why Jesus said, "Yet a little while is the Light with you. Walk while you have the Light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have the Light, believe in the Light, that ye may be the children of Light."

"For there shall arise false christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect."

Apostle Paul predicted, 'But though we, or an angel from Heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so I say now again, "If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." '

The false prophet muhammed confessed himself how his death would be, if he was a false prophet. And that's what happened by the test of a Jewish woman, if he was a true prophet no poison can harm him, therefore she poisoned him. But on the contrary as confessed, just before his death he did feel like his aorta being severed, and died a painful death.

Yes this is how to test the spirits.

One verse posted, may be taken out of context.

The context is told at the end of the chapter, and the same things are what Romans 1 talked about, debate, deceit, INVENTERS OF EVIL THINGS.

The ones judged are the ones who keep righteousness, as keeping , and the ones judged who disobey righteousness, as judged, as rejecting it.

We cant be condemned for showing not to do the wickedness, but we are condemned by never being just enough to stop it...

Just imagine 99 perfect sons obedient and doing the will of the Father at home, and are safe. But the father stands at the door waiting and hoping for the one wandered off son's return who's not safe. Worst to worst in desperate measure, he goes out searching for that one, and upon finding him, in joy carry him on his shoulder and return home throw him a feast. Jesus even prayed to the FATHER for Judas Iscariot, also one of the 12 given by the FATHER HIMSELF.

What a reverse cycle mind boggling wisdom from above, bizarre from what we carnally and normally expect and reason. But, there are mockers and scoffers out there, even in social media, making Christianity a laughing stock. These claim our Biblical resources are taken from ancient idol worshiping cult texts put together. Now, how about on the contrary, rather these ancient cults have our bits and pieces of resources among them? Resources apparently borrowed from our orally ministering forefathers since their ancient times visitation ??

Biblically and for the record, GOD did reach out to the idol worshiping cult people of Nineveh, whom even Jonah wants destroyed. i believe ever since the beginning, astray and divided sons and daughters of Adam and Eve, GOD did send HIS Prophets to minister to them. Again, since then and when, they've added our bits and pieces of our resources in their text rather.

These 'blind guides' even share how these cult temples are build with precision and scientifically advanced. It seems they also use the energy taken from the earth's natural resources to make these temples uniquely functional. As for what these 'blind guides' do not see is that these temples were built by the help of demons, hand in hand with humans. (Not surprisingly Biblically, the sons of Heaven did rebel since the beginning and join hand in hand with humans)

For it is written, "Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind, And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into a ditch."

No thanks. Consulting the bible is a thing of the past for me. I'm happy if you use the bible to point me to a direct relationship with the Creators. What is mistranslated in all bibles and misinterpreted by all bible teachers is not for me.

Rather, I just go straight to my Creators and consult Them if I require any truth.

My confidence is in Them and Their sovereign rule over me. I continue to experience peace in this truth.

And I have the hope of a restoration and reconciliation of ALL created beings who will be redeemed to Them for Their pleasure.

Another truth imo....we are disciples of the “ Living “ God...Now, that is the biggest and Honour/ Privilege you will ever receive, is to be led by the Living Holy Spirit...to have communion with God via His Spirit....only a Born Again has that Honour and Privilege.

The written is our back up ....the Living word is what we listen to, then Gods written word will confirm His Living word...that the children of God will ever listen to....they don’t listen to mans or woman’s voice, unless the Spirit of God speaks through them.

I learn from the Living word of God...the Bible isn’t Gods Living word, it’s His written word.

We all learn differently and God speaks to us all differently...just because one doesn’t read their Bible everyday doesn’t mean anything.

I’m Born Of The Spirit, therefore the Living word of God keeps me on His righteous path...giving all Glory to God as I learn along the way.

I’m used by the Holy Spirit to Glorify the Father all day every day and His will in me...will be done...whatever he wants to speak out of me it will be spoken, it can’t be stopped...my opinion/ belief and testimony.

Sure. And you would read in the bible that it is God Who sends a great delusion, so that people will believe a lie.

Personally I'm perfectly fine with God's ways. If I was God I don't think I would do such a thing, send a strong delusion for the purpose of getting them believe a lie. But He knows what's best for Himself and will act accordingly. With that I am at peace.

God thought up everything. God made everything. God owns everything. Therefore God has the right to do what He wants with what is His. That’s pretty simple to me.

I’m used by the Holy Spirit to Glorify the Father all day every day and His will in me...will be done...whatever he wants to speak out of me it will be spoken, it can’t be stopped...my opinion/ belief and testimony.

just remember , the LIVING WORD would never contradict the Words of GOD .
Because i see many , NOT SAYING YOU , that too cliam they following the LIVING WORD
but man that so called living word they seem to follow seemeth to contradict the words of GOD , of the prophets
and of JESUS the CHRIST and the apostels .
too many are following what they THINK is the living word
and yet they are living it up in certain sins , and thus are DEAD while they liveth .

To remind us of what he wrote to timothy about the widows that were a living it up
SHE IS DEAD WHILE SHE LIVETH . aka IN THAT SIN pards . I See far too many
who are very quick to attack the bible and yet claim they are following the LIVING WORD
and yet , oh , i say , and yet the so called spirit , so called living word they have
IS A DIRECT ABOMINATION TO GOD , HIS SPIRIT , HIS WORD , HIS LIVING WORD .
You be encouaged now dear sister . but believe you me when i say ITS BIBLE TIME IN THE HOUSE .
cause far too many are following another spirit , another word , another gospel , another jesus , another god .
AND YOU wanna know what the real scary thing is , THEY THINK ITS THE GOD , THE LIVING WORD , THE GOSPEL
THE JESUS CHRIST . that is TOTALLY TERRIFYING for them . AT LEAST IT WILL BE ON THE DAY OF THE LORD
when they are standing as a goat RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM . and sister , THIS BORN AGAIN LAMB
dont desire their death . SO this born again lamb gonna warn .

I'm glad the Spirit has revealed this to you. Jesus is continuing to communicate to His followers ever since He came the first time.

As we know, only a fraction of the truth our Father gave to Him to impart to us was actually written down by a number of people. And only a select number of these people and their writings are available to us today.

The most extensive is probably within the Orthodox Tewahedo biblical canon with its 81 books, then the Catholic bible with 73 books then the commonly used bible with only 66 books.

But as we know from experience, we have access to the divine library of endless truth within the Father. We know that He imparts some of His truth to us as He wills. This is fantastic! I love Him more and more knowing that He is willing to share Himself with us. Wow! This is truly amazing!!

Thanks sister for the reminder that we have a real living personal relationship with the Living Word of God. I would not change this for the world.

Many have challenged me on this relationship I have with our Creators but this only breathes life into it as this causes me to consult with Them even more.

I love Them because They love me first and continue to express Their love to me and all of Their creation, without end.

Sister, do you believe it's for the sake of setting us free that the Spirit has possessed us, has moved in, has made us His host and now we are His home?

For me I love the fact that Jesus redeemed this house (me), His Spirit has moved in to me and is doing a renovation that reflects the character of His Father Who is in heaven.

This is beautiful, you are beautiful, because the Creators are being formed in you to transform you so that you become like Them.

And when we see you, we see Jesus. If we see Jesus, we see the Father. Now that's something I give Them praise for right now. Glory to the Creators Who are transforming us into Their likeness FOR THEIR PLEASURE!
