On the other hand, 1 Corinthians 5:30 the Pharisees and their scribes grumbled at his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” 31 And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”
Paul talked about people who claimed to be Christians and were unrepentant of their sins. It is okay to eat with sinners before they become believers, but it is not okay to eat with habitual sinners who claim to be believers.11 But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.
