It made me wonder what the other preachers of his time were on about.
I believe he communicated in a way that the people understood. Right at the beginning he said that he felt more condemned when he left church. It was ‘ the hell and brimstone ‘ era.
His sermons are still good to read.
It would be interesting to know what year he wrote the opening quote, what was going on around him to make the comment. I am not aware he had any prophetic gifting, so something must have been going on to prompt his words. ………..
