13 Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.
2 Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
3 Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.
Bible tells us in Genesis 1 that God created the Earth in six days. According to the Bible that would make the Earth around 10,000 years old.
Now science tells us that the world is 4.5 billions years old and the universe is 14 billion years old.
So what we have here is a disagreement between science and the Bible. Which will you choose?
Personally I believe that the Bible as Paul stated, is the inspired/God breathed scripture. It's not meant to be a science book or a Geology book but it is true whenever its States but its states.
So the Dilemma that many Christians face is whether or not they will accept the Bible as fact in how the world was created or they will accept science as fact in how old the world and universe is.
"Expelled" is a 2008 creationist film that attempts to make the case that the scientific community actively suppresses scientists, academics, and teachers who advocate intelligent design creationism. In the film, they cite a handful of cases they claim illustrate this active conspiracy (the folks who made the movie have referred to it as a conspiracy). In this thread, I'll take a closer look at these cases, compare them to the documented facts, and see if the creationists have presented an honest, accurate picture of what happened.
Let's start with the case of Caroline Crocker, who the film claims was fired merely because she mentioned ID creationism in a college classroom. Specifically, the narrator (Ben Stein) claims "After...
“Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.” (Revelation 1:3, ESV)
The book of Revelation is supposed to be a blessing. For many, however, it has been a book of mass confusion and contention. This forum will explore how to understand this complex book and show how this book is indeed an incredible blessing that challenges and changes us in ways unlike any other book of Scripture.
1. The book of Revelation is cyclical.
This book was not written chronologically. It consists of a series of visions that depict the same span of history from different vantage points. Thus, the book is similar to the...
20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?
FACT! No, Abraham was not! ---- according to the scriptures He was accounted righteous (JUSTIFIED) before God several years earlier, *** BEFORE the birth of Isaac, and before he had done anything to "prove" his faith in God.***
4 And behold, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, "This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir."
5 Then He brought him outside and said, "Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number...
CHRIST THE CENTRE OF THE BIBLE.
To have a correct view of God`s word, I believe, brings clarity to the study of the Eschatology & the Prophetic aspects.
Now when we read God`s word we often focus on what it meant to those when it was written, & what life lesson it can give us. While these aspects are important the reason God the Father wrote His word, was to reveal His beloved Son to us.
From Genesis – revealing Christ in prefiguration, through to the book of Revelation – revealing Christ as He is known in the heavenly realms – glorified & exalted, Christ is the centre....
I have read this passage before but never put much thought into it since divorce is all to common in our society.
Mark 10: 7-12 CLEARLY says one commits adultery if they re-marry. It seems there is no remedy or path to divorce if your marriage doesn't work out when Jesus says, "What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate."
Both parties can always separate and live apart but how does a Christian get re-married in a Christian Church? It happens all the time but how do church leaders allow it or justify it based on what Jesus said?
For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. Romans 1:20
Since the word of God states that some of God's Attributes are Clearly seen in Creation is it right for us to practice natural theology? It is some amazing stuff and using Logic we can know with undeniable logic some of God's Amazing Attributes. I believe is shines light on some of the doxology in the bible. But it is not practiced must in my opinion in christian circles.
We are called to love God with our heart and mind. Thoughts?
