Colossians 3:1-3 NIV

By JesusLovesYou · Nov 4, 2020 ·
  1. "Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God."

Teaching his disciples, Jesus said at one point "Where you treasure is, the your heart is also." For someone who lives this life for here and now, the treasures are the richest of this world, which can be stolen and often times cause a lot of stress due to not knowing what could happen. This, in turn, can change one's priorities in life, ignoring what is important and concentrating on selfish ambitions more and more. When dying to self and raising with Christ, however, everything changes. The treasures are not of this world anymore, and one wants to be "where Christ is", because that is where true life begins. For those who have trusted Christ, this life teaches them to pass through trials, knowing that their life is "hidden with Christ in God". Also, because the priorities are different, those who belong to Christ no longer live for their selfish gains, but for the gains of others, exemplifying the life of Christ, as Paul writes in Galatians 2:20: "...It is no longer I who lives, but Christ lives within me". Do our lives show that we have something more precious than what this world has to offer us? Even better, do we realize what being hidden in God means? Nothing and no one can take us from this place called "God's love", where we are. Therefore, let us remain in it and show it to others, as well.
