Read: John 1:31-51; Luke 5:1-11; Matthew 9:9-13; Mark 3:13-19

Jesus, overhearing, shot back, “Who needs a doctor: the healthy or the sick? Go figure out what this Scripture means: ‘I’m after mercy, not religion.’ I’m here to invite outsiders, not coddle insiders.”

Matthew 9:12‭-‬13 MSG

But when Jesus heard this, He said, “ It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire compassion , and not sacrifice ,’ for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Matthew 9:12-13 NASB199

Thoughts: The Chosen series gives a really neat depiction of the disciples. People like us. Go figure… But it is true, God's mercy is such an amazing attribute. As many times as mankind has fallen and rejected God...got things wrong, etc. He has still been here through it all. We are completely loved and forgiven, because of the blood of Christ Jesus. This is His mercy. He has called us willingly. And just wants us to follow Him in return... Be fishers of men.
