Destroying Your Temple—Your Body

There are many suicide lifeline and prevention agencies available out there who work tirelessly, ensuring that people get the right help they need, trained workers and health professionals who are ready to listen, chat and provide support for people at risk of self-harm and/or suicide

I have personally worked in this area, supporting families whose loved ones have committed suicide. As a believer in Christ and an advocate for these devastated families, I’m writing from that perspective.

Know that there is an enemy out there who hates anyone who is made in the image of God (mankind), whether you are a believer or not. If he can convince you to extinguish your own life, he will. Suicide is a spirit of deception, wrapped in a big, fat lie. When you are at your most vulnerable, he will tempt you with a way out. This way out has no positive outcomes for anyone. It only benefits the enemy because he is taking someone out of the way, someone who could potentially be saved (if you don’t know Jesus), or he has an idea that God has placed a specific calling on your life.

The battle over your life is real, and it usually has to do with who you are and who you could be in the future, especially if you become or are already a believer, although you may be struggling at this point. Even if you are not a believer in Christ, Satan is an opportunist and will take advantage of this opportunity to destroy your life.

Sometimes those dark thoughts may have been with you for years without any outside influence (mental health issues, generational curses, familiar spirits, etc.), or it may have been sparked by trauma, a loss of some kind, an overwhelming situation that is beyond your control, or financial stress. Wherever it may have originated, those thoughts will bring a sense of worthlessness, rejection, guilt, helplessness, and condemnation. You need to reach out at this point and seek help either through the various helpline agencies or through Christian counselling and deliverance as a believer.
