I am addicted to alcohol and trying to get into treatment. It costs 50,000 dollars a month in the US. I do not have 50,000 dollars so I have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for a free bed. Some may want to believe I desire a hand out ..fine. I still need treatment. As Christian people, mercy is forefront. Europe refuses to profit from sin tax - they choose not to profit off addiction and it works. I am desperate - any suggestions?

hope you can get it worked out. i was addicted from my teens until my late 20s. when i had kids i just stopped after 50 million failed attempts at stopping. i am very lucky. all my good young years were ruined from drinking, i messed up my college athletic career, flying career, and so much more that shames me to this day.
im not sure if i could help, i failed at every attempt at stopping, when my kids were born and i stopped, it wasnt something i chose to do, i wanted to stop like all the other times, but this time the desire to drink was gone, i dont know how it happened but it did. i prayed a lot, but i also prayed like crazy all the way back in highschool to stop drinking.
if you ever need a friend to talk to i can do that, sorry i cant do more.

Addiction is a disease of the brain, which requires a person to develop new neural pathways, in order to recover. It requires building a new way of living. It is not easy, and certainly requires God’s intervention. Loving darkness really has nothing to do with it. Attempting to escape darkness by making bad choices, perhaps.
Classic Addiction is weakness of the brain in not being mature enough to deal with reality.

What I have seen with people getting out of control is that they are lacking foundations, due to being spoilt mainly, so you may find they take drugs or drink like a idiot or it's because they are stupid or dumb as or have mental problems. or it can be from being bashed and treated bad from good for nothing mum or dad.
My Brother in law has been a school teacher all his life, now 63yo he has seen it all, trash mum and dad are 9 out of 10 the problem.

A mate was ranting about a 17yo brat that's in the media now for running over and killing 2 people not to mention her baby, now the media have a spin that they are peddling and old mate comes preaching the dribbling media hype spin to me, emotional clap trap and daft shallow narrow minded law reform on the run is all that being promoted. they lack true regard in all this, as to why we have the problems with young brats running wild and the whole thing can be fixed but going back to the 1970's Laws basically, bring back the Cain and cops to boot brats up the bum, such can work wonders.

If a kid played up in the 70's the cops would turn up at dads place and he would deal with the brat behaviour, but nowadays the Dad or mum would have a go at the cops and support there brat's actions. so the brat learns nothing and they do not take and consideration for wrong that they have done, I have seen them talking to lawyers, mot man enough to admit their wrong but trying to take the easy way out just BS-ing like a drongo. I have even heard them claim mental issues . no they are just trash and boot camp is the best thing for them for them to get their lives on track, the other way is a never ending circle of being a moron.
I have seen many a time single Mummy has brought up a weakling boy that will never become a man, it's always oh poor little Johnny regardless, they even bash there mothers for money. such is common story that I have heard nowadays.

Carnal man loves the darkness because he can hide within it's shadows and take advantage of others because of such. it gives such a one power.

Aspen, my advice is get away from the people in your life offering no support. Your priest and AA seem to offer no support. Find a friend that will give you that bed. That will be by your side to get you through the addiction. That's what Jesus would do for you, that's what a real friend would do for you. A real friend would give his life for you and that is Jesus' definition of real love between friends. Find a real friend. Pray for one. In programs and non profits (including evangelical and roman catholic churches) you will find none. God will provide what you need. Even true allies. There is a true church not ruled by the love of money and hatred (yes aversion is hatred, turning a brother away at the door). Find it.

Addiction is a difficult test in life.

Scientifically speaking, long-term recovery has been most successful with ongoing peer support as seen in programs like AA etc.

Find a supportive group and join them on an ongoing basis.

I went to the methadone clinic 17 years ago...they told me I wasn't an addict.
I recently went to a church for the first time in 13 years...they told me I was an addict...on old hearsay and my appearance.
They say I'm unclean.
My doctor says that when it comes to my health, I'm up to my ass in alligators.
Next to Jesus, my doctor knows me best.
Jesus, my doctor, and I...we get by.

I'm a musician. Billie Holiday, Keith Richards, Johnny Winter, Alvin Lee, I could go on for days...
I stopped drinking in '89 because an aspirin gave me a bleeding ulcer...does that mean I'm not an alcoholic?
I always thought I was a hippie. I like Peter Max. Roger Dean. Pink Floyd. I guess Pink Floyd is kinda boring to me these days.
The last time I stole for drugs, or for that matter, anything, I was a teenager. I always hated stealing...it made me feel terrible.
I always thought I was an addict...as my dad used to say, "You see what thought did."
I think about one thing all the time...I crave one thing...to be in God's presence. I am, quite honestly, a Holy Spirit junkie.
As God is my witness.

I have a legitimate question in reply to your statement in your post:
I have witnessed with my own 2 eyes on many many many many many many occasions going back before iforrest became a moderator the terrible attacks and evil things you have said and done to
the innocent on this forum...so why should God feel sorry for you and help you?

Please make your case?

Well, the Lord was moved with compassion on the multitude (Matthew 9.36).

Even if he were guilty... are you an official inquisitor or prosecutor sent from God? Who among us does not have sin in his past? What right have you to demand his response to you? I know that he has been a friend to me.

Why do you presume that @aspen is still sinning or that I am condoning what he has done in the past? [Note that is not here to defend himself... last seen in February on this forum.] Should we rebuke every person anyone else criticizes of condemns?

"Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?" Job 38:2

Read more carefully what I posted.
