Hi all,

I am wondering what the correct way to pray for forgiveness is to ensure I am saved. I would like to focus less on worrying about salvation and more on just walking with Christ. If I decide to stop praying for forgiveness regularly, will this damn my soul? Or what do you think the effect of this could be? Do you worry about your salvation often? How can you be secure in your salvation? Thanks.

To add to this, I have been a member of a protestant church my entire life and have seen a lot of Catholics on the internet recently implying protestants are not saved. Should I be worried about this?

Precious friend, simply believe The Gospel Of The GRACE Of God!:
God's Simple Will :

Is not the Solution to Confusion recognizing God's
Differences Between "HIS Relationship With us,"
And "our fellowship with HIM!"?

God's Will, Today, Under HIS PURE GRACE? Very Simply:

(1) God Establishes HIS Eternal Relationship With those who humbly:
believe, 100% trust, place Total faith, In The LORD JESUS CHRIST, HIS
Death {Precious BLOOD}, Burial, And HIS Resurrection, According To The
Scriptures! (
1 Corinthians 15:3-4; cp Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3-5 KJB!)

"GRACE Through faith" In The Merits Of HIS
Precious And ALL-Sufficient BLOOD Results:

All sins Forgiven, HIS Eternal Life, And, Peace With God!
{This Is Eternal DELIVERANCE From the PENALTY
of sin!}
Justification First, And, THEN:

(2) The believer SHOULD do "good works" {Which will NEVER
EQUAL CHRIST's TOTAL PAYMENT For the above PENALTY
of sin!},
for Which we Are Created In CHRIST JESUS, to perform for HIM,
having "been Called into fellowship With HIM!"
Amen?:

We "work out OUR OWN salvation" {This SHOULD Be a
lifetime of DELIVERANCE From the POWER of sin!}
Sanctification:

(2a) Fulfil ALL Of His Law, In "ONE Word: LOVE your neighbor
as yourself!" (
Galatians 5:14; Romans 13:8-10 KJB!)

(2b) Study HIS Word Of Truth, Rightly Divided, to show
yourself Approved Unto God! (
2 Timothy 2:15 KJB!)

Eternal Results:
reward {or loss} (1 Corinthians 3 : 8-15 KJB!),
ruling and reigning With CHRIST, Which Will FINALLY Be At
The Judgment Day:

(3) CHRIST's GLORIFICATION of All "members" Of HIS Body!!
{This Is Eternal DELIVERANCE From the PRESENCE
of sin!}

Amen?
----------------------------------
Conclusion:
BIG Differences Between God's Relationship And our fellowship!
Correct?

Salvation is 100 Percent Free, But Eternal Rewards
{incorruptible crown/reigning With HIM!} are 100 percent Earned!

Please be Richly Encouraged, enlightened, exhorted, and edified!

What distinguishes eternal rewards from salvation?

"Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." Luke 18:10-14

Jesus indicate that it was the publican, despised by most because of his job, was nevertheless the one justified because of his heart. Is that not where we need to be without regard to which church group with which we may be affiliated?

No, for no carnal man is to be your judge, be he Protestant or Catholic.

"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell" Matt 10:28.

Our judgement, the one that makes a difference is not in the hands of our priests or ministers nor even in accord with what most of the majority of church members might believe... Look to Him, that is God, rather than to any of them!

That is very helpful. Coincidentally (or maybe not so much) that is the second time I have ran across that passage today. Thanks so much.

Forgiveness is probably the biggest issue for many believers.

We have to forgive others, it’s not an option - because we’ve been forgiven of our ten million dollar sins against God, and thus lost the right to withhold forgiveness of hundred dollar sins against us.

We have to make that choice to forgive or we won’t be forgiven, said Jesus.

And you can’t make it to heaven without your sins forgiven.

You seem to be on the right track. This post reminds me of a parable Jesus told about forgiveness. Matthew 18:23-35 The point of that parable seems to be this. Being forgiven is predicated on our willingness to forgive those who have sinned against us. Therefore, when we ask God for forgiveness, we should be willing to do the same for other people. Forgiving others is one way to walk with Christ.

The New Testament teaches us that we don't need to continue to ask for forgiveness. God already knows that we are sinners in need of his grace. On the other hand, the NT encourages us to confess our sins and we confess our sins even knowing that God has provided the propitiatory offering to cover those sins. Those who confess sins are those who are willing to face the truth about themselves. And we do well to see ourselves as we truly are.

I suspect that all believers go through a period of time when salvation remains in doubt. The only sure way to know if one is saved is to be tested. The Apostles speak about the testing of our faith and why such testing is beneficial and valuable. God tests our faith, not for himself, but so that WE might know if our faith is strong or weak. For instance, James writes "Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." As believers walk with the Lord, they encounter trials of faith and the more we experience such trials, and the more we endure under trial, the more confidence we gain that our faith will endure.

James warn us though. It isn't easy.

being secure in salvation? read the bible the gospels first Jesus tells you He can't loss you and what is involved in respect to being saved. especially John chapter 3, Jesus explains the need to be born again.

there's an old adage that a penitent soul bring blessing from heaven into the world, hence you can always find something to repent from. most of the time the Lord will burden you with something in particular that's in error so as to resolve the issue. if you have cause with someone bring it before the Lord and make sure the first thing you say even if you are in the right is that the Lord would have mercy on that person despite how one is offended. without that you're not going to fallow through on real forgiveness. seeking the Lord to forgive you on some infraction is moot, because you have to repent from the cause in the first place. how you think now isn't how or what the Lord thinks. and remember Jesus was thinking in the flesh so that's what one needs to learn to think.

how did James put it?
Jas_1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
