Whirlwind,
The temple that Butch was referring to was the 'Tribulational Temple' in which the the Abomination of Desolation occurs.
Dan 9:27 [sup]27[/sup] He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.
The King James has no mention of the temple. I must tell you, I would NEVER use the NIV. You have just seen one of the many reasons....
Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
This is the same Abomination of Desolation that Jesus spoke of.
Matt 24:15 [sup]15[/sup] “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’[sup][a][/sup] spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand—
Joshua David
The KJV, which has a similar translation in this case to the NIV is....
Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
In my previous post I quoted, "for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are," so what is the holy place in which the abomination stands? Was there any mention of a literal temple?
