If they say they are Christian, there is a chance some of them are simply nominal Christians whereby they say they are Christian because it is popular and it’s not because they are actually a follower of Jesus Christ who truly seeks to truly worship the Lord, and to honor His Word.
Exactly so. Not all churchgoers are born again.

So it is fear that causes Americans to keep guns. But how many children and teens have been killed in schools. Their parents weren't able to protect them.

Because they were in school and it is the school's job to protect them.

Within my home it is my job to protect them.

And maybe He doesn't. Jesus said to turn the other cheek and he chastised Peter in Gethsemane for using his sword to defend Him.

Turn the other cheek for spiritual attacks, not against the person who is looking to destroy your family.

Also, He told Peter that because He had to go to the cross to die for our sins and didn't need for Peter to defend Him.

Were you traumatized in elementary school writing all those letters in upper case? Did your parents seek psychological help for upper case letters yelling at you? Effort wasted?

Nope. I learned internet etiquette when someone, just like me, told me that I need to stop using all caps as it is shouting. There is no need to shout in your replies. People can read them just fine without it.

By law, a citizen may use deadly force when they are in imminent danger of death, grievous bodily harm, or rape. My trainers were quite clear on this point: You shoot to stop the threat. It's hard enough to hit a moving target that's trying to kill you, and just wounding a human that is motivated to kill you will not necessarily stop the threat. You shoot to kill. You must have the mindset that if that gun comes out of your holster, somebody is going to die. Carrying a firearm is for serious people only.

Two to the center mass, one to the head in case the target is wearing body armor. It's a drill I practice at the range.
You can't be too careful.

If guns weren't so easily available there would be less need to protect people from gunmen.

I can agree with that to a point.

The vast majority of people who own guns aren't going out and shooting up schools or theaters.

From a practical standpoint, there are 400 million guns in circulation in the US. That's more than one per person. If you ban them immediately, you will create a very lucrative black market for those 400 million guns, not to mention for the ammunition. Which will of course encourage thieves to steal and sell them (which they do now anyway). Similar to the US's "war on drugs". We've created wonderfully lucrative markets for weed, opioids, methamphetamines, fentanyl, et. al., and we can't stop that either.

Oh, isn't it? Think about it.
And to be open and honest, this is something I struggle with: How to trust God and follow Christ faithfully in a fallen world in which we are guaranteed to have trouble.

John 16:33 is my counter-voice, posted in the "Encouraging Verses" thread.

How can the gun carrying Christian make the following verses a reality?
They don’t have to be persecuted for Christ, but they can just shoot others instead of being persecuted or harmed.

2 Corinthians 12:10 BLB
“Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, and difficulties for Christ; for when I might be weak, then I am strong.”

Colossians 1:24 NET
“Now I rejoice in my sufferings for you, and I fill up in my physical body--for the sake of his body, the church--what is lacking in the sufferings of Christ.”

Romans 8:18
“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”

James 1:2 ESV
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,”

Bible:

Acts of the Apostles 5:40
“And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.”

Gun carrying Christian fantasy world:

“And to him they agreed; And when they called the apostles, they could not beat them like they planned because the apostles had swords and were deadly skillful in the use of them, and yet nevertheless they begged the apostles not to speak in the name of Jesus and told them to leave.”
(Acts 5:40 The Gun Carrier Influenced Translation).

That’s why the whole “we are Christian’s and we carry guns” does not make any sense. Even quotes from the early church fathers supports the idea of Non-Violence. Again, this does not always mean… “do nothing as evil men attack” but it means a person can sometimes act in a way that will harm or kill one’s attackers. But if we are being called to suffer as a Christian… we should take the suffering and physical persecution as Christ did. Granted, I hope to either die in my sleep or be Raptured. But if not, when I get much older, then I hope I die quickly for the cause of spreading the gospel or good news. But in either way, whatever the Lord decides how my end should be, let the Lord Jesus get all the glory. For it is my hope to endure to the end for my Lord Jesus.

Also, He told Peter that because He had to go to the cross to die for our sins and didn't need for Peter to defend Him.

Can you spell "eisegesis"? Or do you even understand what it means?

Matthew 5:38-39, "You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, do not resist the evildoer. But whoever strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other to him as well." Claiming that this refers to spiritual attack is utter nonsense.

Matthew 26:50-52, "Jesus said to him, “Friend, do what you are here to do.” Then they came and took hold of Jesus and arrested him. But one of those with Jesus grabbed his sword, drew it out, and struck the high priest’s slave, cutting off his ear. Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back in its place! For all who take hold of the sword will die by the sword." Jesus' message is clear! Violence has no place in a Christian's life, regardless of the reason.

Distorting God's word -- the Bible -- to manufacture your own "truth" is dangerous and blasphemous behavior.
