I can agree with that to a point.

The vast majority of people who own guns aren't going out and shooting up schools or theaters.

Nobody is "shooting up schools or theaters". That's a distortion of the truth! They are murdering people in cold blood!!! They are not putting holes in buildings!

And to be open and honest, this is something I struggle with: How to trust God and follow Christ faithfully in a fallen world in which we are guaranteed to have trouble.

John 16:33 is my counter-voice, posted in the "Encouraging Verses" thread.

It's very clear that you struggle with it. Try faith!!! Hebrews 11:1, "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see." The best test of being a Christian is to trust God in all circumstances. It's not easy, but it's clearly what God wants from His children. Taking matters into your own hands, particularly using a gun, is the opposite of faith.

Are you a Christian? Do you trust God? If you rely on yourself instead of Him you clearly lack faith.

Interesting…. The brits, who dont have as much freedom, hate guns. But the Americans, who have more freedom, love guns.

Imagine a small colony of Christians in the jungle somewhere who never had access to porn, and when they were told about it, and how it destroys lives, they would no doubt think it would be really really bad. But there are Christians here in America who have been exposed to porn all their lives, and this is why there are believers who have told me online that porn is not bad or even sinful. Truly we are living in the last days and getting even closer to a state of like Sodom and Gomorrah or like the times before the global flood. Americans have become increasing more desensitized to sin. It’s rampant, and it has bled over into the Christian churches.

Nope. I learned internet etiquette when someone, just like me, told me that I need to stop using all caps as it is shouting. There is no need to shout in your replies. People can read them just fine without it.

I doubt you even considered that the Non-Violence position is even potentially true in Scripture. We as believers should not be ruled by our own thoughts and experiences but we should be ruled by what the Bible says. I believe if you or anyone here were to be ruled strictly by what the New Testament says, then you would not be thinking the same way as you do now. That’s what this issue is really about. It’s about the Bible and your faith in it vs. what you think is right and good in your own eyes.

This is only partially true. 250 years ago the people of North America were under the control of the British crown. We fought a war to be free of the king's tyrannical rule -- and won our independence. Shortly thereafter the US Constitution was written, which included the Second Amendment...

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Clearly this was written so that a disciplined force -- a well regulated militia, not a bunch of undisciplined "yahoos" -- would be maintained to prevent an armed hostile takeover, thereby securing a free state. This means a police force and/or a standing army.

Anyone who claims that it means that every citizen can be armed and shoot whomever they think is dangerous and/or in the wrong is a total lie. Period.

Nonsense! Guns don't go off by themselves; someone must pull the trigger. Without the gun, even good people would be unable to shoot others. Guns were created for one main purpose: to kill. Yet the Bible says "thou shalt not kill".
Now we’re talkin. Absolutely it is the person, not the gun.

you couldnt be more wrong. The Founders didnt believe in a standing army. Also, the well regulated part meant that everyone had good working guns and ammo, the same as used by govt’s, not that the guns were under govt control. 90% of all canons used in the revolutionary war were civilian owned.

heres the bottom line that everyone needs to understand; we will never give up our guns!!!

@Taken I think in any case it's the inward and spiritual themes that cry out for attention, rather than politics which in the long run solves relatively little or nothing.....

Cry babies, “you have to be like me, cuz I’ve determined BIG LETTERS are intimidating, yelling, bruise my widdle feelings.”
I’m more about context than Tom, Dick and Harry’s opinions.

@Lambano Excellent verse there....Romans 8 is also a great tonic for the believer.....

(I guess I'm getting a bit off-topic now....)

Multiple people shot California church in Laguna Woods Orange County one person detained casualties | Daily Mail Online

Buffalo shooter targeted Black neighborhood, officials say

These MASS murders, and MANY more that we see on a regular basis, shows that it is both UNBIBLICAL and UNCHRISTIAN for anyone, especially if the are followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, to own any form of weapon!

The US Constitution that allows for this is VERY WRONG!
896 messages in this thread, so I am sure someone has brought this up...

John 18:10 KJV
Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.

Peter had a sword. Jesus said put it away, but he never condemned Peter for having it.

Luke 22:36 KJV
Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

This is Jesus... he is telling people to sell their clothes if need be and buy a sword.

So how unChristain is it for someone not to own any weapon?

@Taken Just remembered; some said: "Context is co-text..."

I remember, small font is hard for some to see.
I remember, different, bold, italics, underlines, all caps, colored, is to emphasize a point.
