This is good Epi. It's not always easy, for many to distinguish between holiness and righteousness. I sure don't have it down yet but am allowing myself to be open to others' views.
The slippery slope is the religious notion that what one has surmised or assumed ABOUT Jesus is the same as being an actual follower of Christ.If Jesus is truly the "centre" of anyone's life and heart, they would preach/teach HIS word rather than their own words and thoughts punctuated with scripture- that is always a slippery slope leading to more and more error.
Attaining holiness is by grace through faith. It is a gift of God given to those who forsake their own lives.
If Jesus is the "centre" then we would look to and follow His example and teachings. Did He teach "if necessary use words"? Not in any bible I have read. He went around doing good WHILE preaching the gospel of the kingdom as did the apostles and early church in general. And while not everyone is called to preach as such, we're all called to be witnesses.The slippery slope is the religious notion that what one has surmised or assumed ABOUT Jesus is the same as being an actual follower of Christ.
We are to be DOERS of His words not just hearers and commentators.
Bishop Barron is right in describing how one needs to put Christ at the center of our motivations. We are to preach the gospel always and if necessary...use words. The religious tendency to indoctrinate others comes from the foundation of having been indoctrinated.
Holiness is based on the resurrection life in Christ...and not at all a religious conditioning that sees promulgation of beliefs as a necessary requirement for someone to feel saved.
In your thread you taught people how to avoid the cross.You just taught that God's Gift of Salvation.....which is God's Holiness provided to the Believer, as "the Gift of Righteousness" , is attained by self effort, and that is not the case.
See, the reason the born again are "holy" is because they are "made righteous", by God's "Gift of Righteousness".
There is no such thing as "im righteous, based on my self effort, or discipleship"., as works can't make you righteous, or redeemed, or holy.
In your thread you taught people how to avoid the cross.

Please don't bring that teaching here. Thanks.

@Episkopos
Explain to the members here why you dont want THE CROSS OF CHRIST, ... on your Thread, that is not understanding "holiness".
Explain it to them.
We will nor seek for something we think, or in the case of holiness, assume, we have. We can lose what we have mislabeled. How important is holiness in the lives of believers? Is this not worth investigating?
