I have developed severe disabling hallucinating spells that appear to be getting worse over the years. I get them about 6-11 days out of the month and they last for a few hours each. I have to lie down and sleep when they hit. I'm not sure how much longer I will be active.

Have you talked to your doctor about these spells? If not, can he give some recommendations about this?

Yes I work with a psychiatrist on these episodes. He said it is a progression of my disease which is schizophrenia. He did say it wasn't dementia. But it is a rare progression and I'm not sure it's understood by doctors. Not too many people probably have it.

What medicines have the doctors given you as they have some that have shown good results.

I guess we just have to keep praying about this. Try not to worry...maybe stress makes it worse?
Yes that's what my counselor suggested, stressing over it can aggravate it. It appears to be brought on by the stress. But not just being anxious, it has to be physical stress.

The doctor has me on the appropriate medication that works fairly well, but nothing really helps that much. I can see that someday soon I may become incapacitated.

About five years ago we had a major fire in our wing of the apartment building. The aftermath looked like a bomb had gone off in our wing.... everything charred black and burnt up outside of our apartment door.

Anyhow, the neighbor lady mentioned that the stress of the fire was giving her hallucinations. She got a dog and said he helped her with that. She also had counseling.

I can't take care of animals. I had thought about that and do want to have a cat. But I don't think it would be fair to the cat as I'm not much of a care taker. Instead of having animals, I visit with family and help with my sister. She has schizophrenia and can't hold a conversation very well, but I manage to take her to visit family. Which is nice.

The reason I posted this is because I'm not sure how much longer I will be able to be part of the forum. I think I have a few years left in me, but probably not much more than that.
Do you mind sharing your age or your age group?

~50. I've had schizophrenia since I was 27 and severe depression and panic attacks before that. Schizophrenia is a progressive illness and gets worse over the years. My sister lives in an adult care home, and I'm starting to see that as the schizophrenia progresses that may be where I end up.

We have to take one day at a time. We don't know what the future holds. Just keep praying and trusting the Lord. I'm 73 btw.

@dev553344

There is a condition, not recognized by the medical mafia which is due to a toxic amount of copper building up in the tissues including the brain but not showing on blood tests.

I will give you some links if you are interested, but I think I have this condition and have had relatives including a sister and son who were diagnosed as schizophrenic both dead now unfortunately.

The best way to test is to get a hair mineral analysis done in one of 2 labs that give reliable results and have a therapist help with diet. You get an explanation of your results with the results. If copper is high or very low, it means there is a problem with copper.

I have been having vertigo which is pretty scary and read that vit c antagonises copper. The second day after starting camu-camu powder the vertigo stopped.

Thanks, yes, I've noticed it keeps getting more and more difficult to survive without more help. But I think I'm OK for now. Thinking about my problems can get overwhelming. I should focus on the good things I have in my life.
