We see Christ being referred to as 'eternal priest in the order of Melchizedek' in Psalms..
Psalm 110:4
The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

And we find him referred to in other text.
Genesis 14:18-20
18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

Hebrews 7:1-3
For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually

Some think Jesus was Melchizedek, but the Bible does not say that. He was the priest of God and king of Salem in the days of Abraham. Other versions give verse 3 as follows..
“Without [any record of] father or mother, nor ancestral line, without [any record of] beginning of days (birth) nor ending of life (death).” {Amplified Bible}
“There is no record of Melchizedek’s father or mother or of any of his ancestors; no record of his birth or death.” {Good News Translation}
“Without his father or mother being written in the genealogies…” {Aramaic Bible}
“There is no record of his father or mother or any of his ancestors...” {New Living Translation}
"Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like unto the Son of God), abideth a priest continually." {American Standard Version}
"He is without father or mother or genealogy, and has neither beginning of days nor end of life, but resembling the Son of God he continues a priest for ever." {Revised Standard Version}

Bible scholars have debated what was meant by this as for Jews their bloodline was of great importance, but the Bible does not say that Melchizedek had no parents. If you look, the King James' version reads, "Without father, without mother," but this same thing, is rendered, "without genealogy," in the American Standard and similar wording in the Revised Version which is more correct. His ancestry is not given as given in the Levitical priests, in that their descent was to be traced to Aaron. This was what made Melchizedek's priesthood a type of Christ's, "in the order of Melchizedek". Christ has no predecessor nor successor in his priestly office, and therefore he is set forth as the antitype of Melchizedek, who stands as the sole representative of his order. There were two orders of the priesthood, the Melchizedek and the Levitical. The Melchizedek order preceded the Levitical order. In Abraham’s day the priest Melchizedek was king of Salem as well as priest of the Most High God. Both Melchizedek and Jesus had a day on which they were born. But Jesus was the incarnate Son of God, who had no beginning.

Christ's priesthood is based upon a holy man in the Old Testament named
Melchizedek (spellings vary)

Heb 5:4-6 . . Christ did not take upon himself the honor of becoming a
high priest. But God said to him: You are a priest forever, in the order of
Melchizedek. (cf. Ps 110:4)

Melchizedek was God's high priest in Abraham's day. (Gen 14:18-20 & Heb
5:10)

Mel's authority held sway in his region +/- 400 years prior to the covenant
that Moses' people agreed upon with God per Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers,
and Deuteronomy --a.k.a. Moses' law.

Moses' law isn't retroactive (Deut 5:2-4) therefore none of its obligations,
along with its consequences for non compliance, applied to Mel's priesthood.
In point of fact: the line of Aaron is the official priesthood within the scope of
Moses' law rather than Melchizedek. (Lev 29:9)

Now; if none of Moses' obligations and consequences applied to Mel, then of
course neither did they apply to the folks for whom his priesthood
ministered; which at the time included Abraham. (Gen 14:20 & Gal 3:17)

That was quite an advantage for not only Abraham, but for all the folk's
within the scope of Mel's high priesthood, and it's quite an advantage for
folks within the scope of Jesus' high priesthood too seeing as how his is
patterned after Melchizedek's.

The measure of exclusion available to folks via the priesthood order of
Melchizedek is practically a license to steal, so to speak --and I could only
wish everybody knew about it because there are folks out there whose
slipshod compliance with the Sermon on the Mount, and the Ten
Commandments, has them on a direct path toward a terrifying destination
that God has made very easy to avoid.

FAQ: How easy is "easy to avoid"?

Find some privacy, anywhere convenient. I suggest covering your face with
your hands and closing your eyes; it will give you a sense of connection.
Then, sort of under your breath, and in your own words, simply speak up for
yourself telling God your concerns about retribution, and that you'd like to
be placed within the scope of His son's high priesthood to avoid it.

If God is favorable; you will be placed in very good hands.

John 6:37-40 . . All that the Father gives me will come to me; and
whoever comes to me I will never drive away.

Rom 8:34 . . Who is he that condemns? Shall Christ Jesus, who died? More
than that: He who was restored to life? He who is the right hand of God and
is also interceding for us?

The issue is that God chooses who He makes as Priest, it was not because of just lineage...

Sin was still in effect before Moses, because, if not the, Flood was unnecessary because there was no definition of sin, Cain should not have been punished, --and there are more examples. There must have been some standard their lives were weighed against.

Also why did Abel et al give offerings if they did not foreshadow Christ's sacrifice? “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” (John 8:56)

I don't think what you quoted applied to these things.

It was Jesus. He brought bread and wine to Abram for communion.
Yet Abraham encountered God in his visit prior to judging Sodom and Gomorrah. That appearance is more likely to be a christophany.

Salem, could be interpreted as the new Jerusalem. But I think it was not, as Jesus is in the order of Melchizedek, not an order under his own name.

Salem, I imagine it to have pre-dated polytheism altogether. After the flood it took the demons time to get organized and spread idolatry. The people of the day would be totally unprepared for what amounts to a spiritual blitzkrieg that swept the world. And Salem was lost.

Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, he remains a priest perpetually

"Without Father and Mother is also in the Greek text:

You realize Noah was alive past the tower of babel and Shem was around at the time of Abraham. Lots of preaching and teaching went on.

You realize Noah was alive past the tower of babel and Shem was around at the time of Abraham. Lots of preaching and teaching went on.

Noah died when Abraham was around 59 years old.

Shem lived another 35 years after Abraham died.

Jacob overlapped Shem's life by around 50 years.

Terah died when Abraham was around 135 years old.

…which every Name, Title, Description…REVEALS…The Specific and Broad WORKS of WHEN and HOW God Accomplishes His WILL, PURPOSE, PLEASURE.

Melchizedek- is the Ancient Revealing of God, Eternal, High Priest, King, giver of Blessings.
Established BY the Word of God accompanied With Gods Oath (promise).

Jesus- is the Historical Revealing of God, Eternal, Truth, High, Priest, King, Power…

accompanied With Gods Oath (promise).

WHEN…Anciently, Historically, Modernly, Future… God Sends Forth Out From God…Himself…(By whatever Title, Name, Description)…IT IS Always God Himself.)

Remember…God has picked, chosen, appointed, His own Created and Made Angels and Men to accomplish WORKS, (Tasks/Services) FOR God…

Where do you think the OP was pulling his disbelief about Jesus being the Melchisedec from? Probably from some vain commentary.

Not all Bible scholars disagree that Jesus was the Melchizekek of The Old Testament.

Hebrews 7 actually teaches that Jesus is Who Melchisedec is. One simply has to keep FOCUSED all the way to the Hebrews 7:13-14 Scripture.'

Heb 7:13-14
13
For He of Whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.
14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.
KJV

What "these things" was being covered in those prior Hebrews 7:1-12 verses? Verse 13 reveals that Lord JESUS is Who the Chapter was pointing to the whole time!!!

Who didn't know that Melchizedek means 'King of Righteousness'?

Who didn't know that Melchizedek who met Abraham offered him "bread and wine", sacraments of the New Covenant that Jesus used as symbols for His Blood and Body?

Even at the end of John 8, Jesus said Abraham rejoiced to see His day, and was glad. And the unbelieving Jews mocked Jesus saying Jesus wasn't old enough to have seen Abraham, Jesus then said, "... Before Abraham was, I AM."

What mind cannot understand that Lord Jesus Christ existed WITHOUT A FLESH BODY back in Old Testament times?? A fleshy carnal mind, that's who cannot understand how Jesus could be the Melchizedek that met Abraham. Jesus has always been our rightful KING, even in the old world! Try and grasp that. Because of His coming in this world to die on the cross, that made Jesus a new kind of Priest after the order of Melchizedek! And Melchi is from Hebrew Malkiy which means king, and zedek is from Hebrew Tsedeq which means righteous.
