Revelation 20:10
10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Oh no…. I never even knew that verse was there… why haven’t any biblical scholars ever saw this verse…… why is there not thousands and thousands of rebuttals to a literal reading of this…..

So you take genesis literal huh? You think stars are going to fall? The moon will turn blood red?

You take this chapter literal as well?

Like you think actual stars in the sky are going to fall to earth? Like the sun and stuff? You know they are way bigger than earth right? Here is a good book to read. Fantastic book on conditional immortality.

Here is a podcast that has over 400 hours of debates and discussions on hell. It’s by budding scholar Chris Date and several actual scholars are brought on at times too.

I’ve read this book along with about 5 others on this subject several times and have went twice through all 400 hours of the podcast and through a few hundred more hours talking with them and reading articles.
One of the scholars they bring up was actually my professor.

So I won’t be reading or responding to anymore comments on this particular thread for the time being. If it’s possible to mute it, I will on my end. I found the don’t follow option. I’m not angry. Just hiking. I was extending a courtesy to you GodsGrace because previously you seemed like a decent rational human. That bridge is burned. So I did not the need to continue. In general my goals for this place have changed from trying to fellowship to now I’m mostly just going to discuss topics on the threads I create. I will most likely just bounce in 2-3 times a week, read a handful of the comments, write a counter argument and bounce. That way I can create content that future users can use. My hope is that by doing that, future Christians who are wanting to better understand this stuff can see multiple perspectives on it. Better use of my time. image.jpg

Don't go away yet S.
I'm going to respond to your post no. 141 in a serious manner.

Not that I haven't been serious....I call it tongue in cheek more than snarky.
You've made some pretty outrageous remarks and it's difficult to reply to them seriously.

But,,,,I will be back for your post no. 141 and I will answer it in a more mature way.
Yeah. Maybe, just maybe,. I could handle being mature....

Belief in Hell is not required for eternal residency therein.

Sure do. Jesus confirmed it!

Why so much talk about hell?
We're not supposed to be Christian because of fear of hell,
but because we want to spend eternity with God.

I believe hell exists....I believe it's the separation from God, the Life Giver.

Other than that, we can't be sure what it is but that there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

It just seems to me that some get too much joy in telling others they might be going to hell.

What's more important that escaping the worst prison that ever existed, with the worst beings who ever existed, forever and ever and ever? NOTHING! The FEAR of God is a main Bible doctrine! We can be sure it's the EVERLASTING fire. BILLIONS of humans will find that out the HARD way!

My Bible Teaches The Unsaved Will Be Eternally Tormented In The Lake Of Fire, Read It Again And Again, 7th Day Adventist And Jehovah's Witnesses Deny This Fact Before Your Eyes, They Falsely Teach Annihilation And Soul Sleep

Revelation 14:9-11KJV
9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Luke 16:24-31KJV
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

I have no issue with you. I think you are still probably a decent person in most ways not involving trans people. Just like I’ve met racists who are still decent people outside of not likening people of color but otherwise are great people.

I don’t know if you hate trans people or not. Some just disagree with people being trans as teens, and some just don’t like the surgeries but are ok with them having social transitions. Most people don’t really understand the process for the overwhelming majority of trans people. There are outlier cases where some surgeon may operate on the genitalia of a trans preteen or young teen but it’s not common, or even supported by a large portion of people who are liberal or part of the community themselves.

This is the common process.
A little kid is vocal about being trans from as young as 4-5 years old. They have behaviors that don’t fit the normal cis gender stereotypes. A little boy that prefers putting on dresses, who naturally gravitates towards little girls and likes to play doll and so on. Now all kids can go through this phase. But for some kids the phase never ends. But at that age it’s hard to tell if they are gay or just very feminine or just weird.

But as they grow older and older and become preteens you see them panicking about things like they are growing a mustache. They want to shave their legs and arms. They shave their armpits. They like to use eyeliner and still don’t fit any of the typical male stereotypes. They start having body dysmorphia. They feel depressed constantly. This is around the age 12-14 they start to get very suicidal if they don’t have an affirming family. It’s when trans boys start to wear baggy clothes and bind their chest. They cut hair short. They start to go into a panic mode.

With an affirming family who has raised this kid from birth, who has always noticed these things about them at this age what tends to happen is what is called social transitioning. Instead of having the little boy Alex go by Alex the parents will called them Alexia. They will inform the school and friends and family that the kid will officially be going by another name. They will let the kid paint their nails, grow out their hair, and wear feminine clothes. They will use she/her pronouns. As the kid begins to move from preteen and young teen they typically start what is called hormone blockers and hormone blockers don’t seem to affect anyone from being able to have kids. So Alex, now called Alexa is taking hormone blockers. This reduces them developing a more masculine body. Their body does not produce significant amounts of testosterone. But if they decided to stop, they can and it’s reversible. Even after many many years. If from 14-16 they continue to live their life as a trans girl on hormone blockers and being treated socially as a girl they will still be perfectly healthy. For fact it significantly reduces the chances of them committing suicide. As they approach 16 this is when deeper thoughts are needed. This is when discussions with therapists, psychiatrists and surgeons come into play. Alexa may begin small amounts of estrogen and may have minor surgeries like waist tightening, may have some facial surgeries and so on. If by 17 heading into 18 the teen is still persistent and consistent in who they are this is when you start heavier irreversible changes. Top and bottom surgery. Heavier doses of feminization hormone therapy. Even then most trans people can’t ever even afford this. Most even as young adults the best they get is top surgery, hormone blockers and social transitioning controlling what name they have legally and so on.

Most people don’t support top and bottom surgery and transitional hormones for young adults. The majority of surgeries in teens are lip surgery and facial feminization surgeries.

So with that said. I’m still not coming back into this discussion on this thread. I meant saying I’m pulling out of the convo. That was it. I was not mad, just bored of it and felt it’s a waste of time. This may be the first time we’ve talked about it. But it’s about the 8,000th time I’ve talked about in the last 8 years. It’s literally the same discussion with just a different face and name.

I have no real issue with you. I get you were being hyperbolic and trying to use red herrings to prove a point. I’ll still talk to you in other threads. Someone you even ended up on another social media of mine I’ll still talk with you there.

I just meant I don’t see a point in continuing this specific conservation in this thread for now. I think there are better ways for me to carry on this conversation in this forum at a later date.

The reason why is because I know that trans people are real. I know that trans people, including teens and young adults kill themselves all the time. 82% of trans youths consider seriously ending their life with 40% attempting it. Over 300 trans people are brutally murdered each year. Shot or stabbed to death. Every 45 seconds a trans teen or young adult attempts suicide between the ages of 13-24. In India, 31% of trans people successfully committed suicide before the age of 20. Gender affirming care with family and friends who accepted teen and young adults as trans reduced those suicides by 75%. 3 out of 4 less trans people commits suicide among affirming families. There is a common saying among parents of trans kids who have killed themselves. “ it’s better to have a trans kid than a dead kid”.

You forgot the little boy that liked playing with barbie dolls who grew up and at 13 he ran into the 15 year old girl next door named Susie who got him squared away and he liked it

The little boy 5-7 yrs old who liked dressing like a girl at home and painting his nails because his teacher at school was promoting progressive gender identity in grooming him, where the parents took him to a psychologist that exposed the teachers actions and she was fired

Yes there are tons of examples where young boy's have an overbearing mother with no father present, and older sisters that directly affect his adolescent learning, they were called sissy's when I went to school, and in the absence of a progressive liberal teacher trying to groom them they eventually run into Susie next door and they like it

Public school classrooms need cameras video recording and monitoring teachers, yes it's come this far!

We all get sick of people online.

No, not everyone.... not those that know how to cast their care upon the Lord and have the fruit of the Holy Spirit to be able to walk in self control and ignore those that need to be ignored.

I’m sure Trump is going to do a lot of things to reverse freedom and and environmental laws.

Hilarious! The only "freedom" that will be scaled back is the freedom to SIN so you liberals will have to take yo perversions underground for a while which will be better for the nation.

I’m sure he’s going to enforce restrictions on the LGBT

Yes, that's going to be a good thing!

The Lord Himself goes much father than this.... He doesn't let sex perverts in to His Kingdom.

There will be no LGBBQ peoples in Heaven. disagree.gif

I think in a few more generations, we will see liberalism at an all time high.

If that happens... the devil and his followers will be very happy and excited!

Things like Disney is highly influential on kids, even if you don’t let your kids watch it. Those kids are growing up being shown other worldviews.

Yes, they are certainly being taught the ways of the devil that's for sure.

These liberal Christian camps did not even exist when I was a teen here.

Those are actually satanic camps that teach children the ways of the devil.

why is there not thousands and thousands of rebuttals to a literal reading of this…..

People like you obviously believe God's Word contains lies... this is common among the followers of the devil.

It's describing a meteor shower is what it sounds like. The big stars arent going to fall on earth, like Orion or something? No. And we have already seen quite a few blood moons they call them. Where the moon appears red. It happens like eclipses do and when the conditions are right. Things like that happen every once in a while and not every day. It is a sign for us.

@Skovand I just want to say I (and most Christians) don't hate anyone.

But if something is against what the Word of God teaches, we will speak against that behavior if the opportunity presents itself. (Speaking the truth in love...)

And what @Truth7t7 said is correct....these children are being groomed in the schools to think they are transgender!!!

The schools need to just teach! Not run with crazy, liberal agendas.

I’ll be completely honest. It’s just because I know it better than you. I grew up in Alabama with conservative Christianity dominating the scene. I used to be stupid, hateful and did not understand the Bible either. But as I got older I begin to realize the hatred and monstrous god I see being preached by the yellow hammer hell fire preachers just did not make a lot of sense. So I begin to read the Bible for myself and noticing more and more. Started getting commentaries. When I was 17 I read the entire Bible twice in a year and about 4 different commentaries on the epistles. They cited various authors and books. I begin to skim the public library for books. At 18 I joined the army and begin to bounce around USA and came across other cultures in America.

While in I finished my degree in biology and begin to look at the debate on science and faith and found that many scientists were Christians and they rejected young earth creationism. So I begin to get books by biblical scholars around the world. Started emailing biblical scholars and getting access to hundreds of high quality papers. Then felt free to finally deep dive even more onto evolutionary ecology. Begin looking at people like Francis Collins a Christian who is also a world known geneticist who lead the human genome project. That lead to Biologos and Peaceful Science. Which lead to even more biblical scholars and scientists.

As I learned about sexual orientation and gender from both sociopolitical and scientific perspectives it made me want to dive deeper into issues like the LGBT and how they intersect with faiths like Christianity. This lead to works by affirming (allies) and part of the community scholars. This lead me to the debates among translations of words and to things like the Jewish Talmuds, Midrashes and Christian works that were by those familiar with ancient near eastern and Hellenistic worldviews.

As God continued to guide me by the Holy Spirit away from hateful toxic forms of Christianity and evil backwards political views I found my self growing closer to Jesus within liberal Christianity. Now I’m convicted by God to carry out this great commission of preaching the gospel of love and justice to those stuck in the darkness of their own hatred.

So where your departure from the Bible began was because of hell fire, brimstone, hateful preachers.

Instead of rejecting the Word of God's teachings, you just needed to find a church where the pastor wasn't hell fire and brimstone! There are plenty of godly preachers who preach God's Word in a loving, rational way...but they still hold to the Bible .

Oh look at big and brave you are. Oh my goodness. Such big words. Perfect example of conservative Christian. I’m sure someone as bright and loving as you are surely must have the Holy Spirit. So much trustworthiness and intelligence. A light in darkness for sure.

@Skovand I think the word you should be using is Fundamentalist rather than Conservative Christian.

I am a Conservative Christian but I don't browbeat anyone over the head about things.

You mentioned being raised in a hell fire brimstone church as a youth. I think that had a dramatic effect on you and is why you are battling us that believe in the Bible's teachings.
