To illustrate, who was it in Jesus story of the Good Samaritan that put himself first?

That’s a false analogy. Jesus told the Parable of the Good Samaritan to teach about individual love of your neighbor, not national borders or government policy. Jesus was not issuing commandments for immigration or foreign aid laws there, He was criticizing religious hypocrisy and demonstrating true compassion. The Good Samaritan did the best he could for the man right in front of him. He didn’t bankrupt his family or abandon his own people to do it. Putting America first just means fixing your own house before trying to fix someone else’s. That’s not “hating your neighbor,” that’s being a responsible steward. Even Paul agreed with this: “if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith” (1 Timothy 5:8). Apply that to nations and it still applies. Saying you love America first does not mean you hate others. It means you care enough to take care of what God has already entrusted to you.
