No later than the year 2037 based on the parable of the fig tree generation.ending in what year?
Did you do your calculations with years having 365 days or $360 daysNo later than the year 2037 based on the parable of the fig tree generation.
1967 (Jerusalem the fig tree, back in the hand of the Jews) + 70 years for a generation = 2037.
If you are referring to the timeline charts, the calculations are based on 360 days per year.Did you do your calculations with years having 365 days or $360 days
In regards to Jesus's return ? No, I don't understand the point you are making.I should ask do you understand the significance of 120 years
Douggg, the parable of the fig was prophesying the END of Israel. Jesus was pointing them and us as readers to Amos 8.In regards to Jesus's return ? No, I don't understand the point you are making.
As far as what calendar year Jesus will return, I go by the parable of the fig tree generation as indicating not later than the end of 2037.
1967 (Jerusalem back in the hands of the Jews) + 70 years for a generation (Psalms 90:10) = 2037
Rob, Jesus was speaking about when he would return by.Douggg, the parable of the fig was prophesying the END of Israel. Jesus was pointing them and us as readers to Amos 8.
The main crux of what Jesus was saying is that SUMMER IS NIGH. He was warning the Jews that Amos 8 was about to be fulfilled.Rob, Jesus was speaking about when he would return by.
In Matthew 24:15-31, Jesus spoke about things that would take place right before he returns. Then, Jesus presented a parable of the fig tree in Matthew 24:32-22.
Matthew 24:
32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
The fig tree in the parable represents Jerusalem. In Matthew 21:18-20, as Jesus and the disciples were entering Jerusalem the week he would be crucified, Jesus wanting something to eat, cursed a fig tree beside the road for having no fruit, just leaves. Jerusalem of that generation, because it rejected Jesus, had no spiritual fruit to it.
Rob, Amos was active as a prophet from 760-755 bc, around 5 years. Israel at the time was divided into the northern kingdom, called Israel, and the southern kingdom, called Judah.Douggg, the parable of the fig was prophesying the END of Israel. Jesus was pointing them and us as readers to Amos 8.
Amo 8:1 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit.
Amo 8:2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.
Okay, that is where you are getting the 120 years from - Genesis 6:3. Isn't that verse indicating the life expectancy of men at that time ?Genesis 6:3 states, "And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years." some are thinking that the number only apply's to Moses which may not be true In the Bible, the number 120 often signifies a period of waiting, a time of probation, or a stage of transition, particularly before a significant judgment or change. It can also represent completeness or fulfillment. if and I do mean if , Jesus did return as he said he would in the year 1914 as the signs indicate then the year 2034 could be a marked year where something happens . 2034 is not far off from 2037.
Where are you getting the year 1914 from ? Isn't that part of Jehovah's Witnesses' belief ?if and I do mean if , Jesus did return as he said he would in the year 1914 as the signs indicate then the year 2034 could be a marked year where something happens . 2034 is not far off from 2037.
Amos 8: Prophecy of Christ’s CrucifixionRob, Amos was active as a prophet from 760-755 bc, around 5 years. Israel at the time was divided into the northern kingdom, called Israel, and the southern kingdom, called Judah.
It appears that Amos 8 is a continuation of prophecy that Amos spoke of regarding the northern kingdom, Israel, and it's demise. Which took place when the Assyrians defeated the northern kingdom, Israel. And the taking of them of Israel into captivity began in 732 bc.

I think Amos 8:3 means that dead bodies will be scattered everywhere.Amos 8: Prophecy of Christ’s Crucifixion
Amos 8:9 says: “I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day.”
Coincidence?
- At the crucifixion, Luke 23:44–45 tells us darkness came over the land from the sixth hour (noon) until the ninth hour.
- Amos 8:3 says: “Many dead bodies shall be cast forth in every place.”
- In Matthew 27:51–53, after Jesus died, the earth shook, tombs opened, and many saints were raised to life.
If you are referring to the timeline charts, the calculations are based on 360 days per year.
To make up the difference between 365 days per year and 360 days per year... (I copied this from the Chabag.org site)....
"During a Jewish leap year, which occurs seven times in a 19-year cycle (approximately once every three years), there is an added month called “Adar I,” inserted before this month of Adar (termed “Adar II” in leap years). This aligns the lunar months with the solar year, ensuring that the holidays fall in the proper seasons."
@locust , it gets complicated. And since we don't know what calendar year that the 7 years will begin, it is best to just stick with the 360 days per year for the timeline charts calculations.
Jay, you may want to read this....From my perspective, it is just so much easier to work in solar years, particularly with respect to Daniel 9:24-27. The festivals and sacrifice requirements are a yearly requirement and are independent of the number of days in a year.
Correcting from 360-day years to 365.25-day solar years by multiplying the years by 260 and then dividing the number of days obtained by this multiplication by 365 to obtain the number of solar years is laughable and illogical, particularly when the added months to the Jewish calendar are ignored when calculating the number of days being referenced.
