Pastors experience everything you do. Read Ephesians 6:10-20, because this applies to all of God's people.

People in ministry, including pastors, sometimes will often struggle MORE, because, "our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

It's important to pray for them.

Even still, I wish that I was taught more about the fruit of the Holy Spirit and the peace that comes from God over how the *Apostolic* Pentecostal church is. "Everything is demonic" mentality is not mentally healthy.

The flesh can rise up in any one .
Truth is i am often depressed and down in the dumps
WHEN I SEE what is going on within christendome itself .
HOW so many are now loving a FAT LIE that wont correct sins , EVEN embraces SOME sins
EVEN embracing the ulitmate lie of all that cliams ITS NOT NECESSARY to EVEN HAVE TO HAVE HAD TO BELEIVE ON JESUS .
THIS WHOLE ENTIRE incluisive ecumincal pile of dung is totally depressing to see and to hear it
AND SPECIALLY TO SEE HOW MUCH OF EVEN CHRISTENDOM has now embraced its fake sorry lie
WHICH THEY THINK IS THE LOVE OF GOD and HIS PLAN for so called world peace .
i am often SO darn vexed , and not just by what i see the world doing
NO , ITS OFTEN WHAT I SEE CHRISTENDOM embracing , calling good . Its all a lie .
A MAN PLEASING LIE to merge this people as one .
AND YOU better beleive its all about the money , NOT THE PEOPLE , and darn sure NOT ABOUT GOD OR HIS CHRIST .
ITS TOTALLY depressing to see it .

I know firsthand how God can make you sick if you are living in a sin, that you will not stop. Some commit adultery and remain sick, until they understand the need to repent. The Apostle Paul referred to another type of sickness in taking the Lord's supper. 1 Corinthians 11:30- For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.

Apparently, the great preacher Charles Spurgeon suffered from chronic depression.

Okay; so a pastor or a missionary is human and CAN have depression, worry and anxiety. The question that hasn't been asked yet is, does that depression prevent him from fulfilling his vocation?

In the case of my pastor I mentioned earlier, my assessment is that he did a creditable job trying keep his emotional state from affecting his pastoral duties, but in the end he got overwhelmed by the circumstances. God bless him, he tried.

I think a lot of that is the American diet.

But, the first sins of Sodom and Gomorrah were gluttony and pride.

John MacArthur (who was decidedly NOT Roman Catholic) said pretty much the same thing: Despair is a denial of faith.
I had a period of several years where I was terribly depressed. It turned out to be a side-effect of the allergy medicine I was taking.

I suspect a lot of mental problems could be solved with proper diet and exercise (not that I exactly do those lol), or by reducing intake of medications.

The american diet for most is not good at all .
But i know of a diet far worse , for it can and will destroy even the very soul for it cometh of man and NOT GOD ,
and many churches seem to feed its people of this meat and of this dirty waters .
But there is a meat and there is a drink and IT COMETH OF THE KING JESUS
and UNTO all who do recieve it , ETERNAL LIFE and they shall never die . that be OUR MEAT and OUR DRINK SISTER . praise the KING .

I am sorry about your pastor. But Spurgeon did not suffer from depression. He could not function at all it that were the case. Manic depression is most likely the cause the way he himself describes it. It made his life a roller coaster of emotions. Highs are high and lows are low. It is a common mental problem. Most people who have it are described as moody people. Like I said before, everyone has a mental problem.

Depression is absolutely normal.
Of course pastors experience it on a regular basis.
When the sermons go ignored...
When people he knows suffer hardships, loss of loved ones....
When people are persecuted for their faith.
When a child goes astray.

All sorts of things cause depression for pastors.

Frustration is usually at the root of it.

Yes, in life many people have experienced alot in struggles, joy, and uncertainty. We see in the Bible itself there are men of God, experienced this issues. Elijah wanted to die, Jonah wanted to die, and many others with depression.

But in modern days, many have misconceptions about those ministering, are being presumed that it is a kind of spiritual sickness. This is a sad thing. Pastors/missionaries are humans, and they still need prayers and encouragement.

Elijah had PTSD. He murdered 450 priests of Baal off his own back....God never told him to do that.
Jonah was racist and had a bad attitude....fertile ground for depression
Judas who was given the gift of healing and raising the dead....his presumption that he could force Jesus' hand to take political leadership fell into sufficient disappointment and guilt he preferred to die. That's a pretty bad depression.
