Every Pastor makes hospital visits or SHOULD make hospital visits. Every Pastor needs help making such visits, especially if his list of the sick is long. The longest walk is to your car after the visit. Its hard to say, which is the cause of the "longer walk"? Is it when the person you are to visit has died right before you arrived or is it when a person is in the hospital because their own actions or lack of action put them there? No dissertation today about smoking and booze. We all know the dangers! When you're hooked on either or both, make no mistake, quitting the habit is NOT easy for anybody. How about something really easy to do and THAT is taking the prescription medication your doctor(s) told you to take and when to take them? How hard is that? There are people in this world who absolutely refuse to follow doctor's orders when it comes to taking their medication. I hope YOU are not one of them and if you are one of them, WISE UP and follow what your doctor told you to do! Tough talk? Right. I know of one case caused by the patient cycling in and out of the hospital all because the prescriptions they were prescribed were NOT being taken. Their reason? They have no reason. Its a mind set. I visited them at home and in the hospital. At home I wondered why are there plastic bags full of prescription bottles? A family member told me the person in question simply refuses to take them. Both you and me know what the end result will be. Let me make an appeal to you. If you are prescribed medication, TAKE IT AS DIRECTED! If there are bad side effects, call the doctor because most common medications have many variations and maybe another will work without the side effects! You just don't stop taking your medications. If you are taking multiple medications, that doesn't mean they need to be taken all at once! Ask the pharmacist or your doctor AFTER you read the label which may contain directions as to when they need taken. Need I say any more? YES! God put us on this earth to show Him to others. How we live our life in view of others is the best example of "witnessing" there is. You can't be that witness if you're dead and putting yourself in the grave by NOT following doctor's orders is short circuiting His plan for you. Then again, there are many more people than you realize who value you...value who???? They value YOU!

Hi Radio,
One of the biggest reasons for certain folks with these problems is the side effects of many of them.

"Mental health medications can cause a range of "horrible" side effects, including severe ones like Tardive Dyskinesia (involuntary movements from antipsychotics) and Serotonin Syndrome (a potentially life-threatening condition), as well as more common issues such as weight gain, fatigue, sexual dysfunction, and gastrointestinal problems. Other serious side effects can include an increased risk of suicidal thoughts, heart problems, and severe withdrawal symptoms if stopped abruptly. It is crucial to discuss any side effects with a healthcare provider, as managing them may involve starting with a low dose, taking the medication with food, or changing the timing of the dose.

Serious Side Effects
  • Tardive Dyskinesia (TD):
A movement disorder that can cause involuntary movements of the face, mouth, or body, and may become permanent.

  • Serotonin Syndrome:
A rare but serious condition that can cause agitation, hallucinations, rapid heartbeat, fever, and muscle stiffness.

  • Metabolic Syndrome:
Antipsychotics can lead to diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.

  • Increased Suicidal Thoughts or Behaviors:
A potential risk, particularly in young adults under 25, with certain antidepressants.

  • High Blood Pressure:
Some antidepressants can increase blood pressure.

  • Withdrawal Symptoms:
Stopping certain medications, like antidepressants and benzodiazepines, abruptly can cause severe symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, mood swings, and "brain zaps".
Common Side Effects

  • Gastrointestinal issues: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation.
  • Drowsiness and Dizziness: Common with antidepressants, anxiolytics, and antipsychotics.
  • Weight Gain: A frequent side effect of some antidepressants and antipsychotics.
  • Sexual Dysfunction: A common side effect of antidepressants.
  • Sleep Disturbances: Including insomnia or excessive daytime sleepiness.
  • Dry Mouth: A common side effect of many psychotropic medications."

Also, the disease itself makes it very hard for them to continue with the meds.

Understood. However, that's why one should call their doctor and discuss such matters rather than simply not taking medication, doing nothing and problems for which the medications were prescribed continue and/or worsen.

The disease is what makes that difficult if not impossible to do those things. Lot's of them do not care about their own selves.
