Luke 10:19 NIV
I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to
overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
Why isn't this happening? Or if it is, why is it so rare?

Maybe in some churches...
The snakes in the above scripture are figurative, not literal.
"to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you."

Could you explain how you came to this conclusion?
When a police officer shouts "Stop in the name of the law!" He/she is exercising the authority granted them to act on behalf of the government that gave them that badge of authority. It is the same with the kingdom of God.

We have the authority to reconcile people to God as Christ’s ambassadors. (one example)

2 Corinthians 5:20 NIV
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

We have a different understanding on that.
To pray "in Jesus' name" is to TAKE authority. It's kingdom business. IMO

Luke 10:19 NIV
I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to
overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
just pray ive heard it ended in your name i pray in jesus name just pray sometimes i say Lord help ME Hebrews says
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
the Holy spirit is our intercessor when we dont know what to pray

What is the purpose of adding "in Jesus' name" at the end of a prayer?
(it gives the prayer authority) Many don't realize that.

I like the King James Version for this verse.
The church has the authority to storm the gates of hell
And those gates will not stand against our attack.

Matthew 16:18 KJV
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church;
and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

2 Corinthians 5:20 NIV
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors,
ambassador is a representative
In the Bible, an ambassador is
a representative of God or Christ who acts on their behalf to speak God's message and embody His character to the world. This role, as described in 2 Corinthians 5:20, involves representing a higher authority, proclaiming the gospel message, and reflecting the values of the sovereign in both actions and words. It is a call to reconcile others to God and to act as a witness to Christ's kingdom the reconciliation comes from God .. yes i pray in jesus name but its not a authority thing

Right.
One who acts on the behalf of God has God-given authority.
what if i just say Jesus help me?
That's fine. Prayer isn't about formulas.

LOL
That would be very foolish to do unless God told me to do it.

Okay; so you're not ASKING for that authority; you are officially invoking the authority you think you already have.

If the expected outcome does not occur, then what? Do you conclude that may have been a bit presumptuous in invoking that authority? Or that you may not have had that authority at all?

We're talking about authority in the spiritual realm.
We do our part. It's up to God to deliver the results.
I take no responsibility for the outcome.

then its not our authority we approach the throne of grace with boldness paul said let your request be made....
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

once again i pray in Jesus name as per instructions ..its your authority that i am in question of

Authority without accountability?

Tsk. That's no way to run a railroad.
LOL
I know that sounds funny, but that's how it works.

Do you recall the testimony I gave about the prophecy that came to me at church?
My authority and responsibility was clear. I did my part and let it go.
That was all that was required. God gave me a puzzle piece to deliver.
I had no idea what it was about. Nor am I responsible for it.

Here is a story for the sake of encouragement.

I was about 30 years, young and healthy. Then at some moment I was getting colds after colds. Nothing really serious, I did not having fever, not lying in bed, just irritating colds, I could hardly function. After about ~6 months of colds James 5:14:15 came to my mind.

James 5:14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
James 5:15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

I hesitated but eventually went to the elder of our Church, he was surprised, nobody ever asked him, it was new for him, but he agreed. So I was anointed exactly following James 5:14:15 and was healed, no more colds.
