Here is the NIV translation of the famous message of hope, Jeremiah 29:11

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.

It is troubling to a grammatically inclined person to see “prosper“ as a transitive verb. Is there a better translation, anyone? Perhaps a Hebrew language scholar can shed some light from the original.

For reference, here is KJV:
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord,
thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Blessings.
