Hey, I have been getting philosophical questions, one is here-

The scripture says that God knew us before the foundation of the world. God is eternal, so He always knew us! Before we were born we were a thought in the mind of God! My question is this- if we were a thought in the mind of God, did we exist?

No, a person starts existing at the point when their father fertilized their mother and a child is conceived.

That's when a person is created.

This does not mean God was not able to look in to the future from the beginning and not only know us but also knew everything we would say and do long before we were ever created.

Some who ask goofy question create strife between themselves and the Lord.

God said He knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10) and the smart ones take Him at His Word.

A fertilized egg is not a person and even a full grown physical body is not a person. Person is not the "hardware".

The Quantum Mechanics of time.....
We look at a clock for time.....tick tick
God the Father Yahweh and God the Son Yeshua and God the Holy Spirit exist in time.....past....present....future.

Like your standing in a subway and the train passes by.......left to right. The cars that are to your left that have not yet arrived are the future. The ones in front of you are the present and the cars to your right that have passed are the past. God is on all them.....past present future.

So in that God is clairvoyant and knew of us all along.

God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son....When Yeshua was born He was aware of what happened in the Old Testament......Now did He do anything in the Old Testament?.....That is the debate.

God is the One Who brings the little babies spirit and soul in at the moment of conception.

Kill one of these little innocent babies and see where you ends up.

So in that God is clairvoyant

God does not practice witchcraft so "clairvoyant" is not the word to use.

All knowing is a better description since "clairvoyants" are led by demons and know very little

So it is the spirit and soul, not the body.

Er no, God's Kingdom functions of the seedtime harvest principle and when a seed is planted that's when the body begins at which point that's when the Lord puts the soul in the baby and it's spirit is inside the soul which is what causes the soul of man to never cease to exist.

No where in scripture does the Lord describe Himself as being clairvoyant

Trying to be clairvoyant is what witches and warlocks do as they are being led by demons

God is ALL KNOWING, not a witch

LOL you so funny.....Clairvoyance or predestined ~~ God knows and can have control of the future....Never said God was a witch.....go look at the definition....
Matthew 26:34
Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.

And He said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down. Matthew 24:2

I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. – Isaiah 46:10

Romans 8:29-30
For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Micah 5:2
But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.i_am_with_stupid_right_t_shirt-r4eaad497b2f94c27801468b90dbe7800_k2gm8_630.jpg

No, of course not. The "twinkle in His eye" was a plan--not yet the realization of that plan. The plan required the Creation.

Many of the posts here place God on a time line. "Before", "not yet", "plan" etc. But God is not in time. Even the term "foreknowledge" is from the human point of view of Paul, the same with "predestined".

The question of the OP is not about God but the timeline of our existence relative to God's conception of his Creation. Therefore, the terms used are appropriate.

The OP also uses "before" for God, which is not appropriate, philosophically. There is no "before" for God.

This is poor reading comprehension. The OP reads 'scripture says that God knew us before the foundation of the world.' This does not refer to before God but before Creation.

We are in danger of putting on pedantic airs when we speak of God's "timelessness," while we at the same time know this is beyond our capacity to understand. God made us to operate within time, and that is how we understand His actions. To claim some secret knowledge of His ways is a ruse to dispense pet beliefs and doctrines.

Do you mean the preexistence of souls as promoted by the early church father Origen ?
