Forgiveness of others is at the heart of the Gospel, but not just forgiving those who run roughshod over us, but asking forgiveness when we (inadvertently) harm others. We know that God forgives those who sincerely repent of their transgressions, but does God ever need to ask our forgiveness for inadvertently harming us, which results from actions taken by God?

We are created in God’s image. If I am a reflection of Him, and I know He loves me, then it follows I should love Him. Also, because God loves all humanity unconditionally, it follows that I should love my neighbors, all of them. (Aside: how wonderful that the two Great Commandments can be derived from this singular verse in Genesis.)

So: since it would appear that God would not ask us to do anything He wouldn’t do, and since asking for forgiveness and forgiving others is a characteristic of loving others, it would seem God will in some fashion ask our forgiveness (make amends) when His actions inadvertently harming us us.

Are there examples in scripture? Zachariah 9:12—Come back to the place of safety, all you prisoners who still have hope! I promise this very day that I will repay two blessings for each of your troubles. Job, Epilogue.

Others?
Blessings.

Not forgive ourselves.....but forgive others....

It is odd "forgive ourselves as we forgive ourselves"
Do you believe that FORGIVE OTHERS is a requirement to be saved & sealed in 1 Cor 15:1-4, Eph 1:13 ?

If we forgive others our God also forgive ourselves.

Here are key Bible verses about forgiveness, emphasizing God's forgiveness toward humanity and the importance of forgiving one another:

---

### **1. God’s Forgiveness Toward Us**
- **Ephesians 4:32**
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
- **1 John 1:9**
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
- **Psalm 103:12**
“As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.”

---

### **2. Our Call to Forgive Others**
- **Matthew 6:14-15**
“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
- **Matthew 18:21-22**
“Then Peter came up and said to him, ‘Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.’”
- **Luke 6:37**
“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven.”

---

### **3. Examples of Forgiveness and Reconciliation**
- **Colossians 3:13**
“Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.”
- **Mark 11:25**
“And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”

---

### **4. The Relationship Between Forgiveness and Love**
- **1 Peter 4:8**
“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.”
- **Proverbs 10:12**
“Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.”

---

### **5. The Example of Jesus**
- **Luke 23:34**
“And Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.’”

---

### **6. The Consequences of Unforgiveness**
- **Matthew 18:23-35**
Jesus uses the parable of the unforgiving servant to warn that if we do not forgive others from the heart, God will not forgive us.

---

### **Summary**
The Bible teaches that forgiveness is central to the Christian faith. We forgive others because God first forgave us, and refusing to forgive can hinder our relationship with God. Forgiveness does not ignore the seriousness of sin but releases resentment and chooses kindness and mercy, just as God has shown us in Christ.

If you are struggling to forgive, Scripture encourages relying on God's grace and seeking spiritual wisdom and support.

Eph 4:32 teaches what we SHOULD do but does not teach it is a condition to be saved/justified/sealed 1 Cor 15-14, Eph 1:13.
Can you list where Paul teaches that FORGIVING EACH OTHER is a condition to be justified/saved/sealed ?
List the Paul (Romans to Philemon ) verses please :)

Forgiving is definitely the right thing to do and Paul teaches we should.
The request is, where does Paul teach that FORGIVING OTHERS is a requirement to be saved/sealed/justified ?
All I'm asking for is the verses FROM Paul :)

Help me understand your question.

If forgiving others is the right thing to do, why do you need verses from Paul as a requirement for salvation? That sounds like a legalistic request. Isn’t enough that Jesus included it in the prayer for the disciples? Are you concerned there are some people you cannot possibly bring yourself to forgive, and that will interfere with your salvation?

Blessings.

The saving Gospel for 'today' as taught by Christ through Paul is :-
Gal 1:11-12, 1 Cor 15:1-4, Eph 1:13
Where does that Gospel teach ANYTHING but faith/belief /trust in the death/burial/resurrection of Christ to be saved & sealed ?
""Are you concerned there are some people.....""
I believe that not forgiving is a sin as are many other things we do/don't do.
eg- failing to ""love your neighbor as yourself"", gluttony & more.

No. That would imply God made a mistake, is at fault. Forgiveness was part of Creation, He knew sin would come into the world, had a plan of forgiveness and redemption. Forgiveness did not exist before creation. Was mercy needed before sin? Judgment of sin was necessary, and so was mercy and forgiveness.
God is love. Love exponentially grew in Creation..He had more to love and His love grew.
This next statement is reaching beyond what we can know about God; but given He is eternal, and that His love has grown, He is a bigger, more powerful God than He was before creation. I don't know that and it's certainly over my head to imply that; but it just seems that is logical. ?

God has no need to apologize to us. If a negatice action comes to us from God, it is for our discipling and learning to avoid further habits of sin.

When fighting spiritual warfare in the heavenlies?
One may "hear" voices in this "unseen" realm asking occasionally for forgiveness.
But, it's not God!
That would be a "priest!"
Which could be taken as God.........But, it ain't.

There's no saving Gospel for 'today' as taught by Christ through Paul, a deceitful made up doctrine by modern day heretics.

But rather 'all time' saving Gospel taught by Christ through the 12 Apostles first and ending through the 13th Apostle Paul.

Ephesians 2:
18. For through Him(Christ) we both(Jews and Gentiles) have excess by one Spirit unto the FATHER.
19. Now therefore ye
(Gentiles) are no more strangers and foreigners, but 'fellowcitizens' with the saints, and of the household of GOD;
20. And are
built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the Chief Corner Stone;

Shalom in the name of Lord Jesus Christ
