I have found three (so far) publishing errors.

Isaiah 9:6 there should be no comma between Wonderful and Counselor. All the other descriptions are more than one word. Wonderful Counselor is the Spirit of Christ.

Galatians 5:17 the "S" in Spirit should be our own spirit with a small "s." It refers back to us before the Spirit in Romans 7:25 and equates our spirit with our mind.

John 17 The publisher puts headings over particular sections. "Jesus prays for the apostles" and then "Jesus prays for all believers" But then Jesus goes back to praying for only the disciples again in verse 24 as it refers again to those the Father GAVE to Him. The word "gave" is a 'key word' and only refers to the Apostles in chapters 6, 10 and 17. It shows the only believers that cannot be snatched out of God's hand are the apostles, except for Judas. False doctrines have been made because western scholars don't know eastern styles of writing, such as key words. That is why the word "say" in 1 John 1 and 2 is not a positive word, but for those not born again before repentance. It is a contrast between just saying vs. walking, therefore 1 John 1:8 does not contradict 1 John 3:9 as so many have been taught and confused over that lead to false doctrines. Some translations add "practice" to 1 John in places, deflating the meaning.

Thanks for the insight. What do you mean, not a "positive" word?
Positive meaning Christian. Negative meaning walking in darkness. The verses in 1 John 1 that have the word 'say' are not Christians, so is not about us. They are like the Jews who kept the law so do not think they sin, but do not believe in Christ. See 1 John 2:4. Paul showed the one sin that the letter of the law does not cover and that is coveting in Romans 7. So all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23. Most denominations teach that we will always sin by that verse and Romans 7:14-25. But Romans 6 and Romans 7:5-6 shows the old man, the flesh is dead and in our past and we have been freed by the crucifixion of our sin nature. We receive a new nature that may partake of the divine nature of God as we become conformed to the image of Christ.

Westerners look at the word 'we' 'I' and 'me' and think John is including himself and all other Christians. Not so. It includes the whole world. Same with Paul in Romans 7. The use of 'I' still means mankind. It is only by looking at the context do you know who is of Christ. For instance, Romans 8:2 "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death." In other words, Romans 8:2 is the cure for those of Romans 7:14-25 that many people and pastors take verses from out of context to justify themselves of why they still sin. A born again Christian does not sin willfully, only unintentionally. Also, sin is in two categories for the past 3,500 years since the law was given, until the Reformation lumped them all together.

Translation and transliteration errors are to be expected.

Thoughit is odd to think of Grammer Nazis , usually found on Internet forums, critiquing the word of God.

The mistake I think we make is to first believe we can only know Jesus,God,is through the Bible.

When some find errors and contradiction, they can begin to have doubts.God is perfect. The Bible is not. Men wrote the Bible.

What bible version is this?

(Isaiah 9:6), My bible doesn't have a comma between Wonder and Counselor.

(Galatians 5:17) - The Holy Spirit is God and God is in us. So it should be capitalized

(John 17) vs 2 is the most important, now Jesus has all authority over the flesh and can give eternal life to all whom God had given Him; V. 20 is the future verse for all believers. Of course Jesus prays before and after v20 for the apostles.

That's the point. In Galatians 5:17, the spirit is not God, it is our own, just like Romans 7:25. Those that do not inherit the Kingdom of God do not have God in them to walk in the Spirit. They may have knowledge of what not to do, like the Jews who were trying to Judaize the Galatians with trying to bring them under the law. Those Judaizers were false teachers. If they had succeeded, they would have quenched the Holy Spirit and all that would be left is their mind/spirit. Romans 7:14-25

I'm only referring to 6-19, and 24-26 is about the apostles. And only 20-23 is about all of us.

Great. Mine is the New King James Version that does have a comma. What is yours?

IN Galatians 5:17; it is the battle against the flesh in us. We all battle with the flesh. Our old nature is battling the new nature. Its up to us to walk in the Spirit that is in us. It is you, through sanctification, that as you mature in Christ you walk more in the Spirit. Apostle Paul only writes to Christians he knows are filled with the Holy Spirit. In Romans 7:14-15 the Apostle Paul is talking about himself, even with all the gifts of the Holy Spirit within himself, he still battles the flesh.

I used the NKJ for years until the Holy Spirit told me to use the NASB bible 1977 or 1995.

Of the 63 English translations @ Biblegateway.com, 54 have the word wonderful - but only 15 have "wonderful," with the comma after it, which includes all the translations with James in the title.

If a translation has "James" in the title, you know it's the least accurate translation.

That's all we have to go by. The Old Testament was originally in Hebrew and Aramaic.

The New Testament was originally in Greek .

The NASB is a really good translation up to a point. It is missing words and verses because of the corrupted Alexandrian codices that Westcott and Hort, two spiritualists who were fans of Darwin of all people, used in translating the Greek into English.

I use the NKJV because it has all the words of God to best understand what God means, rather than what the Alexandrians didn't believe so deleted words and verses that contradicted their beliefs.

Off the publishing subject for a moment and between you and me, do you believe Romans 7:14-25 is about the life of a Christian or a Jew under the Law? I ask because of your statement of belief regarding our "flesh" and "old nature." The Bible context teaches that a born again of the Spirit Christian is NOT in the flesh Romans 8:9, and his old nature has been crucified and resurrected, clean, Romans 6:5-7 and John 15:3, 1 John 3:9.

After studying the Semitic (Hebrew) writing styles, I believe by the other titles in Isaiah 9:6, there is no comma after Wonderful. Of the three examples in my OP this is the least troublesome.

W, have you given any thought to the key word "gave" "give" that in John 17 only applies to the Apostles and how that fact makes clear that that key word is found in John 6 and 10 thereby showing John again is only referring to the apostles and not all believers that gave rise to the heresy of OSAS?

It's a fascinating and brilliant insight into the context. The idea that God is faithful is a given. That he gives license to sin is an abominable way to treat the text.
  • The key word "gave" "give" that is in John 17 only applies the Apostles, specifically and generally to all believers who hold true.
  • The key words found in John 6 and 10 apply specifically to people at the time who did not hold true but apply generally to such people of all time.
For instance, 6:64 For Jesus knew from the beginning who were the ones who did not believe and who was the one who would betray him. In context, he is referring to people at the time but it also applies generally to people of all time.

Well, in your mind, you have thoughts that are not of God, you know it is not, it's of the flesh. That's your old nature. You have to struggle to abolish the old thoughts and overcome. Jesus said in John 13:33 - These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation but take courage; I have overcome the world.
Therefore, through the Holy Spirit, who you received, we have overcome the flesh. But because we were born of the flesh with a sin nature, the new and the old battle it out, and Jesus makes sure we win.

Translations: Jesus told me as long as the translation presents the Gospel and contains His words and doctrine, it is ok. I have an app on my iPad. I can look at 7 translations at once, verse by verse. There isn't that much difference between them. The NLT seems to be more accurate in how it interprets the thought. The NLT is a new creation, not Nestle Arland. The 1996 NLT is the best. The 1977 and 1995 contain all the verses of the KJV and NKJV.

Therefore, in light that you do not agree that give is not a key word applying to only the disciples, do you believe in OSAS? Because I've studied Semitic writing styles my understanding hasn't changed. It remains clear to me that the verse regarding snatching out of God's hands cannot be used for all Christians, but was referring to the Apostles, who would not leave even when all the others left when Jesus talked of eating his flesh and drinking his blood.

Well, in your mind, you have thoughts that are not of God, you know it is not, it's of the flesh.
Do you remember when you were born again of the Spirit and received gifts of the Spirit? I was a Christian for 30 years before that happened to me. And what I noticed during that moment was a dark heaviness lifting out of my body. All my desires after that were NOT what they used to be. Paul says we are NOT in the flesh but in the Spirit if the Spirit of God dwells within us. And if we do not have the Spirit of Christ we do not belong to Him. In 1 Cor. 2:16 the born again of the Spirit have the mind of Christ.

Sorry, but my thoughts are constantly in line with God ever since. Before that night in 1977 I was trapped in the sin of adultery and did not want to change. The next day, that desire was gone.

I don’t believe in OSAS.

i do agree the key word applies to the Apostles. Given that I had surgery and am a little out of it, I may not have communicated correctly. My apologies.

Yes, like yesterday. 40 yrs ago. I received the gift of Knowledge. The Holy Spirit speaks to me, Jesus speaks to me. I dream prophet dreams. Praise the Lord and Thank you Jesus.
You are an exceptional person not to battle the flesh. Not to feel anger at something, never upset because something happens at work, and not frustrated in long lines, or traffic when someone pulls out in front of you, or order a package that is delivered to someone else.
