It's a tactic to claim the other person is immature as a means to claim victory. Everyone sees through it.

His attempt to deflect from the argument by calling others "childish" undermined his credibility. His argument that citing God's word is "nonsense" was rather unexpected but again, it did him no good. He's working on feelings, not reason.

This is the very reason I've pulled back from my forum participation. I simply tired of the immaturity being expressed in all these silly ways. There is no benefit in discussion when this is the reply, it's just closing a door.

Why would anybody put their money in to something that goes up and down with the stock market?

That's not to smart.

It would be better to put it in a CD and earn interest and have the principle under FDIC insurance.

Not to mention with a 401k plan one has to pay the income tax rate of the future which is going to be higher than it is now since you know the liberals will eventually get back in and go way up on taxes

But, they'll also go up on interest rates which will be good for those that have funds in CDs who will earn higher interest

Besides some things in life are no about money. If Iran is allowed to have a nuke then they will use it and millions will die.

In my case, because my returns outdid any guaranteed fund. Indeed, part of my money is in guaranteed funds. Stability and growth are two complimentary objectives.

It would be better to put it in a CD and earn interest and have the principle under FDIC insurance.

If you put $10,000 in a CD, you might get $600 a year in interest. Not bad, but not great, either. I have one CD like that. But most of my money is betting on American economy. And yes, it's taken some hits lately. It was hit during the pandemic, too. But it still did better than my CDs over decades.

Many years ago, I was on a forum with lots of atheists, and one particularly bumptious atheist criticized me for my faith, saying I had no idea how "barbaric" Christianity is.

I replied "So just call me the barbarian, then." He didn't think that was funny, but a lot of other people on the forum, did think it was funny, and the name just stuck. Which is pretty much apropos, since barbarians (the Galatians) were among the first followers evangelized by St. Paul and others.

Nothing against someone who wants guaranteed returns entirely. That's your call. But the free market has been a pretty good provider of wealth for a long time.
