Am I mistaken in thinking that no way would Christians have nominated and voted for such as this even 30 years ago....? Used to be that one indiscretion or stain was enough to finish someone's political career. But the people seem willing to overlook so much now, or deceive themselves, as long as they think they will get the result that they want. We really don't have a lot of skin in the game at this point.
Iran's long range capabilities I believe no longer exist.
Whatever uranium there is is buried under tons of rubble.
Who it does effect are those who transport goods in the Strait of Hormuz.
That would be China, Europe, and the local surrounding countries.
We don't need Iran's oil.
Our markets may get smaller due to less imported goods from Eastern countries, but our own manufacturing is being rebuilt.
Why should we defend the Hormuz when others who rely on it more are unwilling to participate?
Lebanon is filled with Iranian terrorist proxy's like Hezbollah.
That is not the US's problem, that is Israel's and other surrounding countries.
If we had not intervened in taking out Iran's nuclear and ballistic capabilities then next week they would be chanting Death to America with a bomb attached to it.
And if not US, then London, Brussels, Paris, not to mention the UAE, Saudi, Jordan.... etc.
They would select who could or couldn't use the strait restricting flow to the highest toll bearer.
Or perhaps only China using the Yuan would be allowed to flow unimpeded.

As we come into the new age when Jesus came into the picture, both Religion and Politics was controlled by the High Priests, Pharisees, Sadducees. And when Rome took power, they controlled the civic laws.
Jesus never condemned the structure, he condemned that they were abusing their power and being hypocritical towards the people they were supposed to protect.
Luk 11:46
And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.
Even our own Congress create laws for others while creating loopholes for themselves.
This world isn't perfect that's for sure.
But when God sets His Kingdom smack dab in the middle of this earth, do you believe their will be no laws? No consequences for bad actions?

I haven't found a President yet that has been found guilty and condemned at the law for abusing children.
A lot of accusations and gossip, but no proof, no facts. Just words used as political weapons against their opponents.

Even after that knowledge came out, they still supported him.
Look, There is evil in the world. And for some reason children are the easiest targets. They can't defend themselves.
Even when laws are introduced to punish those that do such things, others vote them down. It's amazing.
But it's always been this way. And the only one that can change anything in their own life is you.

Politics began in heaven and will always be the structure by which the world is controlled.
You can't separate Politics and Religion. They are the same thing.
The only difference that we have in the United States is that The Government has no power to choose which religion will be the dominant one and be able to dictate it's own rules.

It forbids Congress from both promoting one religion over others and also restricting an individual’s religious practices. It guarantees freedom of expression by prohibiting Congress from restricting the press or the rights of individuals to speak freely. It also guarantees the right of citizens to assemble peaceably and to petition their government.
This is the actual meaning of seperation of church and state. The Congress is FORBIDDEN from promoting one religion over others and RESTRICTING an individuals religious practices.
And the very fact that Congress is the one that made this Law, it is also political.
Pick any topic that has to do with the governance of society and let's see if we don't base that governance on biblical principles somehow.

Yes, I agree that the laws of western civilization were based on or influenced mostly by the bible. ( The concept of democracy came from the Greeks and Romans though, if I recall.) Nevertheless we have to distinguish and SEPARATE between governments and the church. Distinguish between the holy and profane/common, as the bible says, and don't conflate the two. Romans 13 speaks to the role of government under God's sovereign rule, but that is not the mandate given to the church.
And just to add that David's rulership and kingdom was a type/shadow/allegory for the kingdom of God. It isn't meant to be a template for the church in a literal sense.
