Who appears there ?
Anyone saved by the 1 Cor 15:1-4, Eph 1:13 Gospel taught by Christ to Paul Gal 1:11-12.
Rom 14:10
for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
1 Cor 3:10-15
10According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
2 Cor 5:10
10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

I'm surprised at the lack of response to this post, though I somehow missed it myself until now.

The unsaved will stand before the judgment seat of Christ, also, as Jesus Himself clearly indicated in Matthew 25:31-46.

If you look at Romans 14:10-12 more closely, you can see that there as well.

Romans 14:10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written: “As I live, says the Lord, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God.”
12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.

Notice that Paul references an Old Testament scripture in verse 11. He was referencing this...

Isaiah 45:22 “Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. 23 I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, And shall not return, That to Me every knee shall bow, Every tongue shall take an oath. 24 He shall say, ‘Surely in the Lord I have righteousness and strength. To Him men shall come, And all shall be ashamed who are incensed against Him.

Notice that it's not just those who are saved that will bow and confess to God that Jesus is Lord, but also those "who are incensed against Him". So, that needs to be applied to what Paul wrote in Romans 14:10-12.

Every person who has ever lived and ever will live will one day appear before the judgment seat of Christ to give an account of themselves while bowing down before Him.

Philippians 2:9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

What is your understanding between the judgment seat of Christ, and the great white throne judgment? Do you believe they are one and the same judgment that shall be after Christ returns again? And if yes can you show from the Bible they are one and the same judgment that shall be after the seventh trumpet sounds that time (the thousand years) shall be finished?

One last question, it is written that He (Christ) "might be the Lord of both of the dead and the living", therefore, shall even the dead stand before the judgment seat of Christ as they must at the great white throne?

Greetings Peter,

I believe the context shows us the Apostle is speaking to the church, encouraging believers not to judge brothers weak in faith according to things done in the flesh, for none of WE (believers) are exempt from the judgment seat of Christ for the things done in the flesh in this life.

Yes, WE a select audience and not everyone that ever existed.
Which "church" do you believe the WE is that Paul is referring to ?
eg :-
The Body of Christ "church"
The 7 "churches" in early Revelation
Acts 7:38 "church" in the wilderness

I would say all of the above. We (believers) are the Church of the Living God throughout all ages!

even though in english they appear to be the same word. they are two different greek words.

'The judgment in romans is a "BEMA" judgment, that is a judgment where athletes get rewards for their work..A non believer will not be rewarded or lose rewards for their work.

The one in Rev is a sarx judgment. All who appear at this judgment will be sent to hell. there will be no believers at this judgment.,

The Judgment Seat of Christ is better translated Rewards Ceremony. No sin will be brought up there. We will also be in our glorified state. The Bride of Christ only will be evaluated there, no other humans will be there. The Great White Throne is for all unbelievers since Adam and Eve. Once again, no sins will be brought up there. The unbelievers will be judged for their rejection of God's offer of salvation. Jesus will be the One to "judge" them. The Judgment Seat of Christ is to evaluate the works of the believers to determine their Reward. Remember, there is therefore no Condemnation to believers at the Rewards Ceremony.

Note this verse 2 Cor 5:10
For we must all appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ (better translated Rewards Ceremony) so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or worthless.

The last word in this verse does not mean evil, it means worthless. Since the payment for all sins have been paid, for both believers and unbelievers. Unbelievers have been redeemed (2 Pet 2.1). This doesn't mean they go to heaven when they die since all sins have been paid for. The issue at the GWT is whether or not the unbelievers have accepted God's offer of salvation. This is why you don't see the word "sins" at either the JSC or the GWT.

Believers are judged according to our deeds while clothed in our bodies of mortal flesh. I believe this is how believers stand before the judgment seat of Christ in this present age. In this life we receive blessings (rewards, as many) from the Lord for our faithfulness to do good according to His will. Our deeds are judged before the judgment seat of Christ now, again, as we seek to do His will. When we work with all our heart, as working for the Lord, blessings as many rewards are poured down upon us from heaven. When we remain faithful unto death, then we will not be judged according to our deeds at the great white throne judgment as those who never become spiritually alive in Christ shall be judged according to what is found written in the books. Since their names will not be found in the book of life, the dead will be cast into the lake of fire that is the second death.

He was talking to a select audience, but that doesn't mean he was saying only they would appear before the judgment seat of Christ. When you look at what he said carefully, you should see that he was talking about literally everyone that has ever existed and I showed why in post #2. Can you address what I said in that post?

I disagree. The judgment of Revelation 20:11-15 is the same as the judgment in Matthew 25:31-46 which is said to happen when Jesus returns. Why is the book of life opened in Revelation 20:12 if believers are not there? Both Matthew 25:41 and Revelation 20:15 refer to unbelievers being cast into everlasting fire. How can those be referring to different events? Revelation 20:15 refers to those whose names are not written in the book of life as being cast into the lake of fire at that time. Clearly, the ones portrayed as being cast into everlasting fire in Matthew 25:41 do not have their names written in the book of life.

For we must all appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ (better translated Rewards Ceremony) so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or worthless.

The last word in this verse does not mean evil, it means worthless.
What translation or paraphrase are you quoting there? Things that people do can be both evil and worthless at the same time. The Greek word there can mean either bad/evil or worthless, which is why most translations translated it as bad or evil because that fits the context of what Paul is talking about there. But, the point being made there by Paul is that people will be judged for everything they do that has meaning. Why would people be rewarded for worthless things they have done? That makes no sense. Instead, it makes sense that people would be rewarded for good things and either be punished or have rewards taken away for the bad/evil things they have done.

The judgment seat of Christ simply refers to Christ's throne of judgment. So, Jesus Himself described who will be judged at His judgment seat/throne in Matthew 25:31-46 and He did not portray it as a "Rewards Ceremony". Both believers and unbelievers will appear before His judgment seat, as I explained in post #2 of this thread. If you look at the Old Testament reference in relation to the judgment seat of Christ that Paul gave in Romans 14:11, which is Isaiah 45:22-24, you can see that even those who are "incensed" against the Lord will be bow before Him at the judgment seat.

The Judgment Seat of Christ (JSC) only takes place in Heaven shortly after we are "caught up in the air."

I believe this is how believers stand before the judgment seat of Christ in this present age.
The JSC takes place in Heaven when we have our glorified bodies. There is no formal judgment on earth. Yes, the believer can be disciplined for sin, or blessed for good works, but the official Judgment Seat of Christ is in Heaven, and there is no answering for sins.

In this life we receive blessings (rewards, as many) from the Lord for our faithfulness to do good according to His will. Our deeds are judged before the judgment seat of Christ now, again, as we seek to do His will. No believer will ever stand before the Great White Throne; it is for unbelievers only.

10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ;

Notice that the verse is speaking specifically to "WE"

"WE" must all appear

"WE", will meet Jesus at the "Bema" seat.

Now who is the WE?

Its you if you are born again, and not just water baptized and religious.

And here is a mystery for you to consider......if you are a bible student, and that means you actually study an open bible in private, Just YOU and the Holy Spirit and the word of God......., vs just staying online on a forum way too much, instead, nearly every day, or everyday.

Now, notice this bible student.....= the born again are already "in Christ".....and are already """Seated in Heavenly Places""".= Right now.........and that is before you die and then meet Jesus at the "judgement seat".

That's interesting, huh??

that every one may receive the things done in his body,

Look at this part of the verse reader...

"may receive the things done in his body"..

See that "body" ??????.that is not your body..........that is "the body of Christ".

So, your reward that you will gain in Heaven, at the "judgement seat" is based on what you have done as part of "Christ's Body".
See that?
There is a HUGE Spiritual Application found here.... ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Listen,
this is not "self effort" merit based...........this is "heart motive" based........ This is where Jesus is going to look at all you ever did in His "body of Christ" as your discipleship.........not based on the DEED itself,........ but based on your heart motive for doing it.

Let me cut the confusion away for you., by using myself........as the example.

Now, im going to meet Jesus when im soon to be RAPTURED, at "the bema (Judgement) seat", and He is going to look at all ive done in His "body of Christ"...
An example.....= He is going to look at all the THREADS ive written on this forum, and all others for example., and He is going to evaluate them for Heart MOTIVE., not so much for end results, tho this is going to happen, also.
Jesus will look at all these POSTS ive wriiten here, where i have pushed and pushed and pushed the Legalists and the similar away from themselves and their self effort to try to stay saved, , and completely toward God's Grace,= completely toward The Cross of Christ.
Ive been doing this for 6 yrs on this one forum.....and for many more years on all the others......at some point in time.
Over 400 Threads...& Over 24,000 posts on this one forum.....that always push the Student, the Skeptic, the Self Saver, the Moses Law and OSAS obsessed baby believer....ALWAYS = toward God's Grace that is The Cross of Christ.
Its the other thing that i do on forums, worldwide.....when i have some free time to be on them..........and Jesus is going to look into my Heart when i meet Him and search for the MOTIVE that was in place every time i posted....anything here.
The Lord Jesus THE CHRIST is going to look deeply deeply into the eyes of my heart and discover if my MOTIVES were true and sincere and based on Love.

And Reader, this will happen to me, regarding everything ive ever done in "his body"......... since i was saved long ago.
Everything ive ever done in front of a church or in the background, or as a part of the support team.
Every Class i taught, Ever Sermon i wrote or shared, every Commentary, every Christian Song i recorded, and everytime i gave to the poor...... many things.....and Jesus is going to Evaluate them INSIDE ME....in PERSON.
Understand?
My heart will be opened by the LORD Himself and He's going to KNOW if my Heart Motive was right...when i was engaged in "His body".

And you're going to face it also if you are truly born again and not just water baptized and religious...... So, my potent advice is to get your FAITH RIGHT, and get off and away from all your SELF EFFORT to try to stay saved nonsense, and always check your heart for MOTIVE when you come here or when you do anything for Jesus and The Father, ("in his body") = as Christ is going to look inside your heart when you meet Jesus and reveal you.

And one more thing..
When you get the revelation of what you are going to be facing at "The Judgement seat of Christ".......then KNOWING this is coming..........if you think about it, every day, or often.......it will "salt" you.
This means it will cause you to be more SERIOUS about your Faith and your Savior and your Father God......then perhaps you have been..... up till now.

- See you there, believer.

according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Whether it is : "good or bad".......is regarding your MOTIVE for what you have done "in his body".

Reader, .
The thing about baby christians is that they are all caught up in.....>"working, and performing, and confessing and repenting, and doing, and keeping this and keeping that".......and yet, God isn't interested in any of that........at all.
And that is because God looks at your HEART.......not at your silly works .,= and so should you.
So, that Judgment Seat is coming for you right after the Rapture or Heb 9:27 finds you, so be sure you keep your motives OFF of Self Effort and possible rewards......... and only and always do it ALL = only to please Him "who has called you into His GRACE".

Only Scripture is my teacher
- Who taught the Judgement Seat of Christ ?
Christ through Paul, nowhere else.
- Who will be there ?
Those saved, sealed, justified by the Gal 1:11-12, Gal 2:2, 1 Cor 15:1-4, Eph 1:13 Gospel taught by Paul.
If there are verses that teach otherwise please list them.

Who taught the Judgement Seat of Christ ?
Christ through Paul, nowhere else.

Paul knew about the judgment seat because Jesus taught it.
The lord said he would come with all his Angels and take his seat for eternal judgment.
He would then gather all nations and separate them into two groups, the lost and the saved and judge them.

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

- Who will be there ?
Those saved, sealed, justified by the Gal 1:11-12, Gal 2:2, 1 Cor 15:1-4, Eph 1:13 Gospel taught by Paul.
If there are verses that teach otherwise please list them.
Jesus makes it very clear who is there and what happens to them when he takes his seat.

Believers are judged according to our deeds while clothed in our bodies of mortal flesh.

When we work with all our heart, as working for the Lord, blessings as many rewards are poured down upon us from heaven. When we remain faithful unto death, then we will not be judged according to our deeds at the great white throne judgment
No believer will ever stand before the Great White Throne; it is for unbelievers only.

as those who never become spiritually alive in Christ shall be judged according to what is found written in the books. Since their names will not be found in the book of life, the dead will be cast into the lake of fire that is the second death.

The Bible shows us when Christ came to earth, the time had come for judgment to first begin at the house of God, the church.

1 Peter 4:17-19 (KJV) For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

This is what I believe pertains to the judgment seat of Christ. The reason for the JSC is so that all who are born again Christians will not have to come into judgment at the great white throne that shall be when Christ comes again. Since we have already been judged righteous before Christ (JSC), when time for the GWTJ comes, and (as you've said) we are called to meet the Lord in the air, we shall be clothed in immortal & incorruptible body. Unlike the DEAD who must stand before the GWT in mortal/corruptible bodies of flesh raised from the grave to be judged according to what they have done while alive in the flesh. The book(s) will be opened, and the DEAD will be judged according to what is written of their lives.

John 5:28-29 (KJV) Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

While the judgment seat of Christ in this life is for the body of Christ (born again believers), we too shall be called before the great white throne of God. We learn this from Christ's parable written in Matthew and what is written in the Revelation 20.

Matthew 25:31-33 (KJV) When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Even though we believers too shall be gathered together from all the nations of the earth at the GWT, believers, called the sheep shall be separated from unbelievers, called the goats. They on Christ's left, and we believers on His right. We, on His right hand already clothed in resurrected immortal & incorruptible body, but the DEAD on His left shall be resurrected in mortal & corruptible body of flesh because in life they were never judged righteous before the judgment seat of Christ. All the dead have done in life is written down that they will be judged according to their deeds in the flesh. The fate for the DEAD shall be the lake of fire because they died in unbelief their names never found written in the Lamb's Book of Life. While the DEAD are cast into the lake of fire that is the second death, the righteous on Christ's right shall hear Christ speak the following words to "we" who in life were judged worthy in Christ declared righteous before the judgment seat of Christ.

Matthew 25:34 (KJV) Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Agree. Notice how my posts are being ignored in this thread. They are not even willing to consider whether or not the throne of Christ's judgment referenced in Matthew 25:31-46 is the same as His judgment seat, which it very clearly is. They are not willing to take into consideration the Old Testament passage that Paul references in Romans 14:11 to help determine the context of what he was talking about in relation to the judgment seat of Christ and who will be appearing before Him while bowing down to Him. Some people just believe what they want to believe and are not willing to put any effort or thought into discovering the truth of this matter.
