We don't know that this was not done by those in the church.

Perhaps the pastor thought, since the authorities charged with prosecuting man's law did nothing about this threat for years, despite the pastor reporting the offender, that if he did to the terrorist what the domestic terrorist yet again threatened to do to the pastors wife and babies, beat them, the domestic terrorist would realize the sheep he'd been terrorizing for years actually had the ability to fight back.

All of you who judge this pastor have no idea what he and his congregation suffered from this man making terroristic threats for years,as reported.

You stand on your Bibles and insist others behave as you believe is righteous in the face of violent evil.

You insist, if someone, like the young man in the report, breaks into our home with the intention of beating our family, raping our wife and daughters, and ultimately act to slaughter the lot of us afterward, that you believe those under attack should take it!

And not fight back. Because you must please Jesus and agree to be destroyed by evil.
Because God,you think, would be disappointed if you didn't.

Some even try to lead others to believe God in the Old Testament isn't every bit of who he said he was.
When he led his faithful to war. Slaughtered the unborn, infants, children, women, men.
All in an effort to extol the virtues of pacifism in the face of evil?

Amos 3
6.Is a trumpet blown in a city,
and the people are not afraid?
Does disaster come to a city,
unless the Lord has done it?

Jesus was God the Father of the Old Testament. If we're Christ like as Christians, when Christ came to conquer evil,we aren't suppose to concede to the power of evil and let it overcome those who are Christ like. Not when Christ is a war God who stands against evil.

Do not resist an evil person?

You all preach what others should do. Succumb to violence without resistance.

But would you really let a man break into your house and rape your wife in front of you,and do nothing to stop him?

If so,guess what?
You're the evil person.

Proverbs 25:26
Like a muddied spring or a polluted fountain is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.
Look at it this way. The Lord through prophets and Apostles gave us tools to deal with these situations. All you need is God.
Psalm 91:4-5-
He will cover you with His pinions,
And under His wings you may seek refuge;
His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.
5 You will not be afraid of the terror by night,
Or of the arrow that flies by day;

Romans 8:31 - What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

2 Timothy 1:7 -For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.

@Gray_Joy. The claims being made here about home invasion, rape, and murder are not part of the actual report. Those details have been added in and change the entire argument. What was actually described is verbal harassment and alleged threats, not an immediate physical attack in the moment. We need to stay with the facts as presented.

As Christians, we also have to ask, "What would Jesus do?” Jesus did not teach retaliation or taking matters into our own hands in anger. He taught us to take up our cross, deny ourselves, and follow Him, even when wronged. That means self-control, restraint, and leaving vengeance to God.

Protection in genuine, immediate danger is one thing, but justifying assault based on escalated or added claims is not consistent with the example of Christ.

That is not true.
I suggest you watch the news reports and the pastors statements before commenting further.

I gave one OT and two Nt. There are 100's more. Proverbs are for us today. How many do you need to convince you. 1 John 4:4-Greater is He that is in you than he who is in the world.

Proverbs 3:5-6 -
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.

I have one Bible and one God.
Because I believe in,trust, and respect God,I believe what he tells me of himself in his old testimony.

@Gray_Joy.
I’m not adding anything beyond what has been publicly stated in the reports and the pastor’s own comments. The issue here is not whether threats were made, but whether there was an immediate, unavoidable physical threat at the moment the assault took place. Those are different things.

Even if someone has been harassed or threatened over time, Scripture still does not give us freedom to take personal vengeance or act in anger. We are called to self-control and to leave justice in God’s hands and in lawful authority.

The question remains the same - does the response reflect Christ? Jesus calls us to take up our cross and follow Him, even in the face of wrongdoing. That standard does not shift based on how justified we feel in the moment.

Now you're backtracking from your former statement.
"The claims being made here about home invasion, rape, and murder are not part of the actual report."

It would be better if you'd bother to watch the videos that feature the pastor giving his account.

Who cares what anyone here thinks should be done?

What was done is what matters.
A domestic terrorist chronically threatening a pastor, his family, and congregation for years, while police do nothing, got his backside kicked.

And some people here think that was just wrong!

If he had,or does, follow through with his years of threats what then?

@Gray_Joy, nothing has been backtracked. The issue is accuracy, not opinion.

There is a clear difference between what is reported and verified in official accounts and what you added in this thread. Allegations such as home invasion, rape, and murder are not established facts in the report or confirmed charges, and presenting them as if they are changes the nature of the discussion.

Repeated claims or alleged threats are not equivalent to those crimes having occurred. Conflating the two is not clarification; it is escalation beyond what was reported. If the discussion is about accountability, it must remain anchored to what is actually documented, not expanded by inference or assumption.

If those additional allegations cannot be sourced directly to the report or official statements, they should not be stated as fact.

I saw this video. Says nothing about God's grace and love for others. They were just words. The pastor allowed those words to drop into his soul, manifesting within him, a murderous spirit. Satan won and the whole world saw it. It's unacceptable behavior for any believer, let alone a pastor.

If people think this is bad. Wait till real persecution hits the Christian churches and it will happen except we will be the underdogs.

That is my point. I'm glad you realized it.

Understand something. The pastor appeared before media and reported the threats that man made against his family.

I have not added anything.

Allegations such as home invasion, rape, and murder are not established facts in the report
That's a lie.

or confirmed charges,
No,the man who made those threats hasn't been charged. Had not for years while continuing to make them toward the pastors wife and children.

and presenting them as if they are changes the nature of the discussion.
Refusing to watch the news reports featuring the pastor who reports the threats the man has made against his family for years is why you think you can continue to insist what you claim is true.

It isn't true.

In short, you're in a thread making false allegations against those who know what they're talking about, because you do not.

@Gray_Joy,

“You’re shifting between two different things: alleged threats and confirmed criminal acts.

If the pastor reported threats made against his family, that is one category of claim. No one is disputing that threats were alleged or reported.
The issue is the leap being made from those reports into stating specific crimes like home invasion, rape, and murder as if they are established or evidenced in the official record.

Those are not interchangeable. One does not automatically prove the other.

Saying those additional allegations are not found in the report is not ‘false’ it is a factual check against what is actually documented.

If your position is based on media interviews, then cite them directly. But even then, reported threats remain allegations unless verified through charges or findings. The standard doesn’t change just because the story is emotionally charged.

This isn’t about who ‘knows more'; it''s about not expanding claims beyond what is actually evidenced.

The media interview is on n this thread.

It is that to which my postings refer as per the allegations therein, made by the pastor.

As I have said, you didn't watch the video of the pastors news conference. Which is why you don't know what I'm talking about.

I won't continue this. You don't know what is the issue in this matter.

@Gray_Joy, I have been addressing exactly what you have now clarified: allegations made by the pastor during the media interview.

Nothing in my posts denied that he reported those allegations.

My point has consistently been that allegations reported in a media conference are not the same as verified facts or matters established in the official record. That distinction is important, especially when discussing serious criminal claims.

Saying "the pastor alleged it" is different from stating that those crimes occurred as established fact. My comments were directed at maintaining that distinction.

Whether I watched the video or read the transcript does not change the principle. The standard remains the same: allegations should be identified as allegations unless independently verified.

If we're both now agreeing these are the pastor's allegations, then we've clarified the issue.

Tony Spell should be very thankful for two things: 1) That he didn't unalive his neighbor, which he could've easily done; 2) That his neighbor didn't have a knife or some other weapon, which he would've been fully justified in using.
