Hatred of The South

While I was born in Boston, I identify with the South. My daughter was born in Houston, where I lived and loved it.

Back in the late 1980's, I was sent a news article from a Scottish newspaper by a pastor in Scotland where a DNA study had been done with the various Caucasian peoples of the Isles and Europe. The result: they were all descended from the same root stock of Cimmerian and Scythian tribes that migrated from the east into Asia Minor and Europe.

And people whose ancestors were from Cornwall, the county in the extreme South West of England, are descendants of Celts, like the Welsh, Irish and Scottish people. Needless to say, over the centuries, there has been a lot of inter-breeding, so there are probably very few British people today whose DNA is either pure Anglo-Saxon, or pure Celt.

All the Cimmerian and Scythian tribes were actually of the same root stock as the Celts, so they are related even to Anglo-Saxons. The Romans called the Celts by the names Gauls and Normans. The Book of Galatians was written to the Gauls (Celts).

Not racist at all, but based on history.

I realize its a history lot of folks don't like, nevertheless, it is the result of an old history of both Europe and the United States of America.

As Christians we are to love one another and to love our neighbor as ourselves. And to pray for our leaders.

Fact is:
Love means Being / Doing what is Best for another.
Hate means a Strong DisLIKE.

Point:
Hate is Not the Opposite of Love.

It is a Natural Curiosity for one to hear, learn, experience another's “Culture”…

It is Natural for one to Like, Dislike, find Strange, certain aspects of an others “Culture”.
I don’t conclude that broadly or automatically “translates” to Hate.

Sorry, but that's kind of like choosing to have blinders on. There still exists today, those from both North and South, that have disdain for each other because of the American Civil War. Southern members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans refuse to even call it a Civil War, but instead as The War Between The States. They hate the stars and bars flag because to them it symbolizes the Northern side which violated states rights and invaded the South against the Constitution of The United States.

But of course not all Northerners and Southerners are like that.

To this day, both Northerners and Southerners get together to do reenactments of major Civil War battles at the actual place where the battle took place. You ought to check one out in your area. When movie producers need American Civil War soldiers for their film, they go to those reenacters because they already have modeled clothing of the era, weapons of the era, and even are trained in battle formations of the Civil War era, and even restrict themselves to only articles available in that era that are created by themselves, even to the types of packs, belts, and shoes, etc.

My half-brother, who's father was from Ohio, had a good book he lent me about this Civil War reenacter from the North that traveled to the South to research about Civil War era soldiers, what it was like, and he participated in re-enactments as part of the Confederate side. When he packed some oranges that were dyed orange with the Sunkist label on it, the other reenacters got onto him and he had to throw them away. When they went to sleep at night, without tents, they all laid down next to each other in a line, all turned on one side, and they would share each other's body heat. After some time, someone in the line would yell out to turn, and then they all as one line would roll over to their other side. That's how extreme the reenacters go at modern battle reenactments with trying to make it as authentic as possible. They setup for something like two weeks for the experience, and their wives take part too with cooking and using only items of the Civil War era. I've been to one enactment, on Loretta Lynn's ranch where she allowed reenacters to do a battle reenactment that historically took place in that area of her land in west Tennessee. The cannons were LOUD!

If we forget them we are bound to relive them.
But there comes a point when you have to let the past be the past and today be today.
I grew up 3 blocks from Bunker Hill. 6 blocks from where the Tall Ships came in to port.
Within a mile of the Famous Paul Revere Ride.
I am a Northerner. My family have always lived in the North.
But that doesn't mean I have to hate the British. I don't have to hate the South.
We move forward but we don't forget the past.
And there is no one alive today to hold accountable one way or the other.

I’m a Southerner and have lived in the Northern regions for many years. I haven’t directly had things said against me, but I’m sure things have probably been said behind my back. We’re probably more hated by the world these days for being a biblical Christian than for being from the South.

The entire Bible is history. Should we throw that out too?
Should we ignore the fact that people actually live real lives in the real world?

How exactly do you know that America's history is not God inspired?
