Exactly...no one is perfect...or even close to perfection. And which modern believer has sold all and now follows Christ into His perfection?
Basically no one.
That's why we are given the righteousness of Christ Jesus.

The opposite is true. The fruit of having the righteousness of God is that we walk in the perfection of Christ. If the criteria for God's righteous standard was that we are imperfect, then all men are saved. Are you are universalist? Or do you prefer your own salvation to that of others?Exactly...no one is perfect...or even close to perfection.

WHAT?????? Your statement makes absolutely no sense. The opposite is true. The fruit of having the righteousness of God is that we walk in the perfection of Christ. Yes, we are given the righteousness of Christ when we are born again.
....but until we are fully sanctified and given our glorified bodies our "sin nature" will remain.
As christians we still sin.
The sins that are past....My gospel said the blood of Christ washes away our sins when salvation is given to us.
Not all people will be saved...so no, I'm not a universalist.
So, you're saved...but not really....until????No. Being born again is a sample of initial grace. You need to be baptized in the Spirit to get the full measure.
Salvation now is from sin. That's the only biblical real time salvation. The is no unconditional salvation. One must run the race of faith faithfully till the end.So, you're saved...but not really....until????
PA, when Jesus was asked by this man about "INHERITING" eternal life, this man must have realized that an inheritance comes from someone else dying and then the funds are distributed. I wonder if Jesus was telling the man that you don't do any works to receive your inheritance. Salvation ( a gift ) likewise does not come by works. If you are going to bring in works for your inheritance we have te remove grace.Luke 18:-
18And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
19And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
20Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
21And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
22Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
23And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
..
How was the young rich ruler trying to inherit eternal life ?
By what he did, his efforts, keeping the commandments, works, performance.
So why wasn't he saved ?

Bravo Sierra....Salvation is from spending eternity in Hell.Salvation now is from sin.
Now you preach a works based salvation.....but as we all know, and you should know by now...8For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9not by works, so that no one can boast. One must run the race of faith faithfully till the end.

I disagree. Surrendering all to Christ can be done without selling it to others. For the time being, all we have is Christ's and is at His disposal. Soon, this world will demand and require all we have unless we surrender to the mark. Them the promise is we may then buy and sell. Survive, but be a slave to the system. It will be then that we will be required, in order to be saved, to relinquish control over all things. Our homes, our jobs, our ability to buy food and shelter. Our ultimate source of life will of necessity them be God and Him alone. In the meantime, we must be willing to forsake all when the time comes. Which individually may come tomorrow if God asks. Its about attitude. Mindset. The man in the parable wasnt willing. The other apostles learned that lesson as they grew. Peter chose to go back fishing thinking Jesus had abandoned them. And which modern believer has sold all and now follows Christ into His perfection?

Yes, situational requirement for the time. I have done that very thing when God asked. Sold all excerpt my car which I needed to get where God was sending me. Today, everything in the house can go tomorrow and I couldn't care less. It would actually be a blessing. None of it would be a blessing for others, and isnt even worth insuring.+++++++++I disagree. The young rich ruler was told too
ALL believers in Acts 2.44-45 did

All that being said, None of it would be a blessing for others, and isnt even worth insuring. I'm not claiming I'm prefect. Just saying that there are situational dynamics for every individual and every family. Do I want my elderly wife to be out on the street? Does God?
A deviation from what?This is a deviation.
No, I addressed the primary point that Jesus was making. The rich young man was not saved because he did not keep all of God's commands. That's one of the reasons the law was given. It shows us that we are by nature unrighteous. You are fully ignoring Jesus's teaching and replacing that with the incredulity of the as yet non-spiritual disciples.
This is not what the text says....you are putting in your twist on he text. He did keep God's commands as listed by Jesus. Jesus challenged the young man on PERFECTION not salvation..No, I addressed the primary point that Jesus was making. The rich young man was not saved because he did not keep all of God's commands.
That is false. There are the naturally righteous ones...like Abel. God accepted his sacrifice. Read what is ACTUALLY written in the bible. Stop believing lies. That's one of the reasons the law was given. It shows us that we are by nature unrighteous.
Namely because the man had no faith . And when presented with a scenario that would have him to give upLuke 18:-
18And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

It all boils down to basically one thing .Yes, situational requirement for the time. I have done that very thing when God asked. Sold all excerpt my car which I needed to get where God was sending me. Today, everything in the house can go tomorrow and I couldn't care less. It would actually be a blessing. None of it would be a blessing for others, and isnt even worth insuring.
All that being said, I am also aware that I could always be more generous with my time and and with what money I receive. I'm not claiming I'm prefect. Just saying that there are situational dynamics for every individual and every family. Do I want my elderly wife to be out on the street? Does God?
God sure did accept the sacrfice of abel . On t hat you are correct .This is not what the text says....you are putting in your twist on he text. He did keep God's commands as listed by Jesus. Jesus challenged the young man on PERFECTION not salvation..
Why are you so confused? Just read the text without the dogmatic ideology.

Would you condemn Abel to hell because he was naturally righteous (unlike Cain who was naturally unrighteous)?
