Yes, without a doubt. When you're new to the faith, you need a place where you can ask the basic questions without getting argued over. This forum gives people that space. I'd tell any new believer: start here, stay in the Word every day, and find a good church where people know your name. Don't try to learn everything at once. Growth takes time and reps, just like anything else. Welcome to the family, and don't be shy about asking questions. That's what this board is for.

Yes. t think some sections would be highly informative and useful, and its good for them to immerse themselves in the world, even if it can be overwhelming at first. I wish I was introduced to the forums much earlier

Thanks.

An example of my concern about this particular forum of the board: There is a well-known Christian member here who sincerely believes and teaches that Jesus lied on numerous occasions. Do you think that is helpful or harmful for a new Christian’s faith?

I asked AI Overview - “Should new Christians be exposed to false teaching?”

This is what it had to say:

“New Christians should generally not be intentionally exposed to false teaching, as brand-new believers typically have a shallow biblical foundation, a lack of doctrinal discernment, and a high vulnerability to manipulation.

Why New Believers Are Vulnerable

• Lack of Grounding:
New Christians do not yet have a deep, systematic knowledge of Scripture to measure what they hear against the truth.

• Tactics of False Teachers: Error often enters subtly through lofty rhetoric, twisted verses, emotional manipulation, or promises of health and wealth rather than Christ and repentance.

• Need for Acceptance: Brand-new believers are often eager for community, affirmation, and easy answers, making them prime targets for spiritual exploitation.

How the Church Should Protect Them

• Prioritize Sound Doctrine:
New believers need a steady diet of clear, foundational Bible teaching and the ‘whole counsel of God’ rather than controversy or niche heresies.

• Foster Healthy Community: Instead of introducing them to falsehoods to ‘test’ them, leaders should anchor them in a faithful local church with mentorship and accountability.

• Teach the Truth First: The best defense against counterfeit doctrine is a thorough, intimate familiarity with authentic biblical truth.”

I’ve seen too many shipwrecks to be unconcerned.

Yes, and one thing that helps new believers most is knowing where to start in the Bible without getting overwhelmed.

A few simple habits help:

1. Begin with a short Gospel like Mark. It is short, active, and keeps pointing to who Jesus is.
2. Pair reading with one question: what does this say about God, and what does it ask of me?
3. When a passage confuses you, note it and bring it to a thread or a trusted friend instead of quietly dropping it.
4. Keep it small and steady. Ten honest minutes a day builds more roots than an occasional long session.

If you want a gentle starting plan, I put together a free 7-day Scripture reset that gives one short reading and one focus for each day: Your 7-day Scripture reset plan | Pace with Grace

This is not therapy. Just a gentle Scripture tool.

New Christians taught by false Christians and non-Christians is a safe place for new Christians to hang out?

The restricted “Christians Only” forums might be a safer place for new Christians.

I would not generally recommend new believers to the forum. It is better to join a church to start with, because being anonymous makes for a lack of accountability. Pastors can't tend the sheep when they are spread out all over the place. I have a concern that without traditional guidance, it may make some more suspectable to believe in doctrines of demons. I also believe people should be water baptized as a public confession of faith. It is no substitute for a Bible believing church.

God uses the forum for various other things. Doesn't mean it isn't like a minefield of false doctrines.

I never knew there was such craziness going on amongst some believers until I joined some forums many years ago.

Newbies don't need to be babied. It's a rough world out there.
Not babied. But they should get grounded with sound doctrine first. Too much craziness said in the forums.

One man's sound doctrine is another man's heresy.
That's why you just don't go anywhere to church. Choose one with sound doctrine (the fundamentals of the Christian faith). Also a sound church (the pastors and a lot of the congregation) will exhibit the fruits of the Spirit.
