Seems very unfair that a God that can magically fix people doesn't bother until after they're dead.
A lot is made about theodicy and the Epicurean dilemma:
Would God be willing to prevent evil but unable? Therefore he is not omnipotent. Would he be capable, but without desire? So he is malevolent. Would he be both capable and willing? So why is there evil? And if he is neither capable or willing, why call him "God"?
Evil does exist. I trust God, for whatever goals He has for us, has determined that it is necessary that we know both Good and Evil. That we experience both suffering and compassion.
Otherwise, I'd have to take the Nihilist position: S**t happens, and then you die. There's no meaning in suffering.
