Sooooo, by your logic - 2 Pet. 1:20 is flawed because it says:
"...knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation."

The context of Scripture doesn't tell us to be "independently-minded".
It tells us NOT to lean on our OWN understanding - but on God's (Prov. 3:5).

For the time he was here in the flesh, Jesus certainly unorthodox. He was true to the scripture, but shunned what the Pharisees, Sadducees and many other sects did with the scripture.
