1 John 3:9
******9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
1 John 5:18-20
******18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.
Note: How does he keep himself, by not sinning (which he cannot do)? --- No! By having faith in what Jesus (God) did on the cross. If you have faith, trust, and confidence in His work on the cross then you KNOW your sins are forgiven.
19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.
20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
Ps 32:2
2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity,
And in whose spirit there is no deceit.
Note: The man/woman is honest (no deceit) with God acknowledging that he/she is sinful. They do this continuously in their hearts.
Col 2:11-23
11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, “”by the circumcision of Christ,””
12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, “””””having forgiven you all trespasses,””””
14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
Note: Separating your sinful flesh from your spirit is the work of God, not your works and efforts to not sin. The baptism in verse 12 is not a person’s baptism in water. The person is buried in HIS baptism on the cross by the circumcision of Christ (the work of Christ). This was done by Christ in verse 11.
16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths,
17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.
18 Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God.
20 Therefore, if you died with Christ “””””from the basic principles of the world,”””” why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations
21 "Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,"
22 which all concern things which perish with the using — according to the commandments and doctrines of men?
23 These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.
Note: Make sure you don’t let others try to lay a guilt trip on you so that you cannot enjoy the peace and joy there is to be found in God’s work on the cross.
John 15:18-20
18 "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.
19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
John 17:14-26
14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.
16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.
19 And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.
20 "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;
21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.
22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:
23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
24 "Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
25 O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me.
26 And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them."
Note: I completely believe that I am not of this world, just as Jesus said, and I believe that many hate me because I have complete faith, trust, and confidence in His work on the cross and will not let others put a guilt trip on me. I am obedient to the Gospel of God’s grace as taught by Paul. I will not live in my sinful flesh and let my sins of the flesh control my life. Jesus has set me free from my sinful flesh. --- If a person is not set free from their sins committed in their sinful flesh, then they have not been set free and it is doubtful that they really believe their sins are forgiven.
