I remember seeing a Bugs Bunny episode as a child...about the Tasmanian Devil. Bugs Bunny looked up the diet of a Tasmanian Devil to see if it included rabbits. It didn't seem to. That is...until the Devil turned the page to a whole chapter entitled...Especially rabbits. :)

We have that same thing going on in 1 Cor. 13.

A whole chapter on love!

Yet if you try to promote this charitable inclination to many Christians...you get a vehement protest. How can things have gotten so bad?

Is it SO difficult to not judge others...to be gracious....to be merciful? To be as children when it comes to assigning evil to others?

Or are we just witch hunters and people who are looking for demons everywhere?

Are we so bent on justifying ourselves that we seek to put others down?

Unfortunately..this is the case. We are confronted with this at every turn. Go to any Christian chat site...and watch the hatred.

Can God's judgment not be expected?

When I try to explain God's view of the world...which He loves BTW...some people say I'm a universalist...which is far from the truth. My range of understanding goes from perfection in Christ....all the way to annihilation in the lake of fire.

But that is the problem, Too many have simplistic notions about good and bad...that have never stopped eating at the tree of death. (Tree of G and E). The poor judgments that follow are indicative of these false assumptions.

So then those who have no charity in them for others...have never eaten from the tree of life. And this is common.

In our time of freedom...people can do as they wish. We are so free we are actually lawless when it comes to obedience to God. Every man does what he thinks is right...and the ways of every man is right in his own eyes.

But you would think that the evidence points us in the direction of love.....seeing the commandments are about love and perfection is about love?

Nope. That would be too good.

Confess and repent of judging. No excuse, but 'where I come from' some see demons everywhere and being merciful is pretty much scorned over judgment. Unlearning a lot...

How many have really had the love of God shed abroad in their hearts? Where is the evidence of that? This thread will probably go to the wayside due to a lack of interest. Sad. But to be expected as this was prophesied in the word.

Maybe. Aside from the obvious wanting the occasion to glory in another’s flesh...maybe we seek out others we can expose their sins to cover our own. If their sin is worst(or appear to be), it will eclipse our own therefore (temporarily) hide it. why else would misery love company?

I find that Christians who are misguided...look to unbelievers and prop them selves up by judging them. But we should never compare ourselves. How can we? We each have our own set of circumstances and we haven't a clue what others have to go through. In any case a Christian should be an ace when it comes to mercy, compassion and humility. A Christian should reflect God's sacrificial love for all people.

Could it be that some Christians natural disposition is rude and unkind? I sure have met some of those in Church. Yes, I agree with you, Christians should at the very least, have charity. Without it, nothing matters anyhow.

Unfortunately Logic precludes Charity, and reduces it to...what we have now, charity is almost a dirty word.

we are all intimately familiar with the Hegelian ("satan's") Dialectic, even if we don't know that that's what it is called. The Hegelian Dialectic is just a Logical reduction
an implied winner and loser in every transaction, more or less
Paul's "run the race in such a way" is a reference to it prolly

Ha! you mean, "you wash my hand and I'll wash yours"?
that too, but many other ways as well. very little actual charity being observed toward those who deserve it most, surely. All kinds of Directed Charity, immense oceans of wealth that dribble out dollars to causes deemed worthy, like that

that is pretty hard to just do, though. Most ppl get baptized and go back to their same life i guess. Changing one's mind is hard, and can become near impossible once one is convinced they are saved i guess. apparently any excess is justifiable after that, jets, yachts, etc

"'God help me to come here to learn something every day, and leave the teaching to those who know"
That is so beautiful...a prayer from a brother we dearly love

We are not to be "conservative" with our love.....but "liberal". We are to love pre-emptively. We are to forgive also pre-emptively.

Yet we are not to abide iniquity. Those who deny the true nature of the Lord....and say they see....we should have nothing to do with.
