19Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? 20And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 21Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. Matthew 17:20 "Because you have so little faith," He answered. "For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

As God has dealt with us a measure of the wright kind of Faith In Jesus Christ our Lord: For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Romans 12:3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but think of yourself with sober judgment, according to the measure of faith God has given you.

The disciples were asking Jesus why they could not cast out, the Faith has to grow, she is like a mustard seed you know.
Little Faith does not cut the mustard.

The faith that this is talking about I know that if we have the proper faith in Jesus Christ to move mountain or: Hebrews 11:6. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. and in:

Bible Gateway passage: Mark 11:20-26 - New International Version , etc.

What was the Lord teaching? Was it not that it is NOT the amount (or volume) of faith that matters, but the capability of the One in whom we put our trust? As the Lord also said, For with God , NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE.
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: He is quick and powerful

But it's good enough to move mountains? No the disciples problem was no faith at all to cast out demons....Jesus said their "unbelief" prevented them from casting out the demons. But I may be seeing it wrong.....can someone have unbelief about something and still have faith in it?

The thing about the whole matter of the wright kind of Faith in our Lord, as you were seeing it, you are correct, and yes a person can have unbelief about certain issues, but their unbelief must be increased: Mark 9:24 Immediately the boy's father cried out, "I do believe; help my unbelief!"

But some people such as myself, must not have wavering in my life, such as amiss: James 4:3 And when you do ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may squander it on your pleasures.

Romans 1:16-17 King James Version (KJV)
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Bible Gateway passage: Romans 1:16-17 - King James Version

Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. Habakkuk 2:4

Great verses there! goes to show that justification by faith is a doctrine which runs through Old and New Testaments.

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

Well, exactly!
For we walk by faith, not by sight: 2 Corinthians 5:7

Faith is Being Sure, Etc.
Hebrews 11:1-40
Hebrews 11 KJV

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Faith, therefore, is the substance of things waited for, the evidence of things not seen. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Blind faith is worthless.
Dead works are worthless.
For one to have Faith in Jesus Christ, you must know him.
I remember always having faith in Jesus for many years but I did not truly know him until I was Born Again, I knew of him before that, but I was only water baptised.
I was not Baptised in the Holy Spirit until I was Born Again.

I could say I have faith in what ever, political Party or person or people or I could say that I have faith that someone is competent Tradesman but only to a certain level and I will point out for a fact that x has no understanding in that field that I would let him take on that task without myself or someone who I have total faith in to oversee the task, because I know that such a person will fail totally and the cost not to mention reputation would be a total disaster. so no fact is little faith does not cut the mustard. but the mustard seed is small but she can grow big is the point. fact is that faith always starts off small and then she grows.

Bible points out, Oh ye of little faith, so such is a problem, but if we all had faith that could move mountains, then we would not have a problem.
In the 2ed coming all people will have faith that could move mountains. just like people who are truly Born Again can do, it's just that the majority will become Born Again in the 2ed coming, they are abiding in the Holy Spirit, not the worldly who stagnate and choke the Holy Spirit like a weed.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) Hebrews 10:23
