1 Corinthians 1:30,
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
There are those with the mind-set in Christianity; Christ is made unto us these things if I can figure out how to make them work.
A better name for this kind of thinking is doer religion. I must do something to make it work. I believe every believer will go through this at one time or another in their walk with God.
We feel like there is something I can do to make all this all fit together. As you grow in grace and knowledge most believers walk out of this type of understanding.
I don't really understand what is so hard to understand about the simple straight forward word of God. I know in my study through the years I have turned my head this way and back like I was looking at an abstract painting.
Instead of reading like it is written, I knew God surely had some kind of hidden agenda. Some great mystery that I must uncover.
There is nothing wrong with searching the scriptures, it is what you do, for in it you have life.
We need understanding of what we are searching for, as well as where to search.
The things of God are not hidden anymore, they are revealed. The great mystery of God (if you will) is solved.
It is written in plain black and white english.
Now by the time I get through interpreting it and put my twist on it here and there, no wonder I'm confused.
You cannot stress the fact enough of how important the HolySpirit is to your understanding.
Just because you have the HolySpirit as your teacher does not mean you are yielded to Him.
The little word "yield" will possibly be the hardest thing you do in your Christian walk.
We all feel like we are yielded to the HolySpirit untill He begins to move you along in your understanding, your first thought will be "that can't be God it doesn't fit what I believe."
From the time you believed you needed a Savior untill now your Father has been working with you to correct your thinking.
Paul would call it mind renewal, getting the mind of Christ to go along with your new birth.
Many are still trying to figure out how to make salvation work, and even wonder at times if their saved.
The many doctrines that come out of ignorance can never over power the love your Father has for you.
He never quits me, He is dealing with my understanding and sometimes it hurts.
Thing about correction is no matter if you are right or wrong you are going to go through correction.
So don't try to make it work, simply let it flow from your inner most being.
Everything a believer is looking for is summed up in understanding Christ is our only life revealed by the HolySpirit.
