Proverbs 16:7 When a man's ways please the LORD, He makes even the man's enemies live at peace with him.

On the righteousness level this is very true. Human character is respected by all. Courage, honesty, gentleness, patience...etc.

It is authority that people rebel against. So they rebel against holiness and light....which exposes their darkness. No one who loves darkness likes being exposed by the light.

I think this is true on a national level. God rewarded peace to repentant Israel. And visited them with war for their disobedience.

But Christians have tribulation as their lot in life. As God brings forth the image of Christ in us through the crucible of affliction.

Good point. Isaiah 48.10 says: "I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction".
