No Dave you're not understanding. Jesus "TOOK" on flesh and blood ans was not a partaker of it. listen,You'll not understand the bible unless you understand the deity of Christ. Jesus is body, soul, and Spirit just as we are. But his Spirit is the triune God who sometimes spoke as God and other times spoke as man.
Hebrews 2:14 "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil"
see Dave, we humans are "PARTAKERS" of flesh and blood, JESUS was not. understand he "TOOK PART of the same but was not a "PARTAKER" of flesh and blood.
we're to "PARTAKE" of his divine nature, and not just "Take PART" in it.
I suggest you need to study on the difference between "TOOK PART" and "PARTAKE".
because many are saying Jesus is half man and half god, or 100% man and 100% God.
if so one better know the difference, and read
Philippians 2:7 "But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
