Kathryn Kuhlman's death reminds me of the darkness and earthquake as Jesus died on the cross. I was fascinated by this nurse's eyewitness account of the manner of KK's death that apparently played a role in the nurse's conversion:

In my next planned post, I will recount my friend's testimony witnessing similar events after a woman's death and will then share some of the reasons why I revere KK, despite her flaws.

NOTE: On the same YouTube video there is an excellent biopic on KK' life right after the nurse's testimony about the events surrounding her passing.

(1) There inexplicable power failure at the moment of KK's passing reminds me of the darkness and earthquake when Jesus died on the cross.

(2) KK's presiding nurse (Joyce) reports the smell of roses so "thick" at the moment of KK's death that was evidence to the whole staff and made it hard to remain in the room. Only later did Joyce learn that KK had asked that roses be the only flowers displayed at her funeral.

PARALLEL EXPERIENCEs: My friend Gord was a chaplain in Kelowna, BC. Gord shared an account of visiting a frail Annie in a nursing home. Gord noticed a bottle of lilac cologne on a table next to her bed and asked her if she'd like a nurse to apply it to her face. Annie replied, "Oh, that would be lovely!" Annie immediately brightened up, smiled, and passed away! At that moment, 10 miles away on a farm, her daughter and son-in-law were working in the barn with the animals there, when she suddenly noticed a powerful odor of lilacs penetrating the stench of the animals. "Do you smell lilacs?" she asked her husband. He replied, "Yes, but I didn't want to mention it because I was afraid you'd think I'm crazy!' Imagine her surprise when Gord told her how Annie died!" No one knew who put the lilac bottle there. I once experienced this supernatural phenomenon (a powerful smell of lilacs during the service when no lilacs were present) at a funeral I once performed, only to be told later that lilacs were the deceased ladies favorite flowers.

(3) The nursing staff later reported that KK had predicted the exact date and time (1:13 PM) of her death.

PARALLEL EXPERIENCES: My Dad told me that his friend Helmut had always claimed to know that he would die precisely on his 90th birthday. He did just that! Swedish mystic Emanuel Swedenborg once wrote John Wesley (the founder of Methodism), claiming revelation that JW was eager to visit with him. JW was stunned because he had told no one about his longing to visit with ES. JW told ES that the visit would have to be postponed 3 months until he returned from a missionary trip to America. But the exact date of ES's death had been revealed to him; so he told JW that he would be dead before his return to England. When that fateful day came, ES had a leisurely breakfast and then lay down, passing away peacefully shortly thereafter.

(4) I found it interesting that KK's nurse was converted as a result of the events surrounding KK's passing. And while singing the carol "Angels We Have Heard on High" while driving her car, the Holy Spirit suddenly took over the steering wheel as Joyce lost control and spoke in tongues, evne t though doing so was the furthest thing from her mind!

True healers working the work of the Father from Heaven, by faith in Jesus,
may not be as uncommon as people think , although the fake ones get a lot more advertising and news it seems.

KK healed one man who became the most successful 'healer' known in history, or rather unknown. (though KK's record I don't know , nor others, even like SW (Smith Wigglesworth) known world wide) Healing is simple when true and truthful, but it is rejected by merely religous and unbelieving disobedient peoples of the world, for whatever reason.... In the USA, several medical schools and hospitals were closed, I heard or read, by those rich and powerful back before 1950, if they wanted to continue healing.... so people today, a generation or two (or three?) later hardly have heard the truth of what is possible, and what was changed to prevent it.

At age 21 I attended Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, CA for a year before transferring to Princeton Seminary. I twice had the privilege of attending her healing meetings at the LA Shrine Auditorium, the place that used to host the Academy Awards. The 2nd time my friend Sam insisted that we sit among the 60 clergymen seated on the platform for a close-up view, though we were just seminarians and not clergy. At one point Kathryn wheeled around and joked about how dead we all looked, suggesting that we needed a blessing! The crowd roared its approval. She then proceeded to touch the pastors at the other end of the line, continuing towards Sam and me in the last 2 seats at the other end. It seemed like her gentile touch electricuted every minister because one by one they instantly fell off their chairs, face-down on the platform. I was terrified because I'd never been "slain in the Spirit" like that and because a staid fellow Presbyterian had shared how he was just talking to her when her hand brushed against him and a jolt of supernatural power knocked him to the floor! When Kathryn had laid out about 60 of us, she paused as if listening to the Spirit's prompting to stop short of Sam and me. I was impressed by her spiritual discernment because she didn't even look at us, but sensed our resistance.

In my next planned post I'll share how an avowed skeptic (a friend of my friend Lloyd) got saved just by bumping into Kathryn in a congested mall, without knowing that the woman who touched him to prevent a collision was Kathryn Kuhlman!

My friend Lloyd shared this testimony from one of his friends, a man totally disinterested in Christianity. The friend was strolling through a crowded mall when he accidentally bumped into a lady he hadn't noticed. She braced herself, touching him on the shoulder, smiled, and moved on. Later that same day, the friend was overwhelmed by conviction of sin and a felt need to embrace the Gospel and become a Christian.
It was years later when he first saw a photo of Kathryn Kuhlman and recognized her as the woman who had touched him to prevent an accidental collision. To his dismay, he realized that her touch had transmitted the Holy Spirit to him in a way that resulted in his conversion that very day! This is yet another example of how the hands of anointed saints like Kathryn Kuhlman can channel great power to people they encounter.

I loved her. She was my aunt through marriage on my father's side.

Oh wow Willie...I take it you met her then??

She was very anointed of the Holy Spirit.

I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, where Kathryn Kuhlman lived and also had her services (in addition to the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles).

As a child, my mom and I would attend Kathryn Kuhlman's services. I can remember the sense of holiness/worship in the services. Also, I remember the congregation singing with such gusto.

During one service where we were standing at the back due to lack of seats, I experienced something that I hardly ever tell people about. I consider it holy and so speak little of it happening. At the exact same time that happened to me, my mom also was touched by the Holy Spirit.

I was probably only about six years old at the time of the above experience.
