@Rita Oh, so there was never any 'big change of mind' with you about tattoos; after praying, it simply felt really good to go ahead and get inked up with what you wanted, then?
To be honest Farouk, I didn’t give tattoos much thought at all- it’s as simple as that.So there wasn’t a change of mind because it wasn’t something I had considered at all. It wasn’t about ‘ getting what I wanted either ‘ there was so much more to it than that ..........it wasn’t about ‘ getting my own way ‘ .....

I cannot explain beyond that, and just can’t do this anymore Farouk- all it brings is condemnation from people here , and I am so tired of being judged by people that know very little about my personal journey and how and why I came to get the tattoo..........all of us have a story, but many judge on just a mere glimpse of a few words on a page and miss the whole book .........
I have a savour , a redeemer that knows my whole story and he is not condemning me , so why should anyone else !!!!!!!

Signing off from this discussion xxxx

(A thought of mine from the other thread: )

I do think that the knee-jerk, negativity of people who are into cultural 'Churchianity' is not helpful when they seem determined to give young ppl a hard time.

(e.g., "Look that that rebellious young man with earrings!" Response: "Umm, my mom took me to the mall to have them done...")

("Look at that rebellious young woman with a tattoo!" Response: "Umm: it was my 18th birthday present from my dad...")

So often, the reality is far from that of the knee-jerk reaction of those who have evidently "theologized" cultural matters on the basis of subjective preferences from many years ago.

Hi @Randy Kluth On the other thread you said:
People were supposed to prove who they were by their behavior, and not by their tattoos.
In spiritual terms, whether someone is actually tattooed or not these days makes little difference. But my wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse, and mine also, and I'm sure other conversations have also arisen as a result of her willingness to go to the parlor and have it done. Other ppl don't have to "agree/disagree"; it's none of their business; it would be also be hard to argue that her decision was not done in the fear of the Lord with a view to having a witness tool that would be proven effective in conversations.

@Heart2Soul Yes, it's self-evidently so, isn't it? and Christian nurses, etc. can be assured of this, when considering the potential witness value of a faith based design.
Unfortunately, the tattoos of nurses rarely have a christian message.....
Okay I am going to my prayer closet. God bless

Not on the wrist bro, that's too feminine.:)
@Preacher4Truth I don't think it's exclusively feminine, but it's true that the wrist is popular among women; my wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also; and I'm sure many other conversations have arisen as a result of her willingness to use her wrist for conversation-friendly ink injectings; it's a widely preferred placement.

Gospel related tattoos have been used effectively by the south-sea Islanders who play in the Rugby League competition in Australia.
@OzSpen My guess is that the pain and expense of having it done is in a sense repaid and made worthwhile over and over again in the minds of the persons receiving it, when they are seen as a testimony. One can understand the very strong motives that may lie behind it. Seems like parlor services have opened up a lot in recent years and while it's certainly not for all Christians it's not hard to understand why many Christians are motivated to use their local parlor for inkings of a faith based nature. In some ways it's almost a pity more Christians don't work as tattoo artists.

The old adage "You can't judge a book by its cover" applies here as well as
in literature. I've met women with tattoos, studs in their tongues,
multicolored hair, fishnet stockings, outrageous earrings, tight-fitting concert
tee shirts, low-slung hip huggers, and black lipstick that were really peaches
while I've met dignified, neatly dressed women with horrible personalities.

Excellent quote. People with a Fundamentalist mindset should really stop giving them a hard time and concentrate on the transforming inward and spiritual nature of the true faith.
