Hell is a word that didn’t even exist before the 8th century (as far as we can tell), and Hades does not describe a place of torture, demons ruling over miserable victims, etc..
In ancient Jewish thought, SHEOL was merely the abode of the dead…a place, without thought, feelings, devices, plans, senses, etc…literally “the grave”, the same word in the NT is HADES (proven by this NT passage quoting the IT passage here, if there is any doubt (Act 2:27Psa 16:10

Well, since tradition includes a lot of things not Scriptural at all, but so many people accept the traditions,
shouldn't , um, or should, those false traditions be accepted now, by popular vote ?

(( no ))

Dead bodies are buried.
Souls are invisible to human Eyes.
Living Souls depart Dead Body's and continue Living, until Judgement Day.

Hades- is a Greek Term, meaning Underworld, and also the name of a Greek Mythological god of the underworld.

Sheol- is a Hebrew Term, meaning a place of Darkness where the Dead go.

Gehenna- (Gehinnom) is a Term from a historical valley near Jerusalem, called Hinnom, where some Israelite king's sacrificed their living children by burning them to death...

Gehenna Became a Thought as Similar to a Place where the Wicked would go and BE burned Alive.
( it is a real Visual (association) that Jews saw and AND heard screams AND smelled the flesh of little children being burned alive )

PLAINLY HELL- in English, has nothing to do with Greek mythology or the Hinnom Valley.

Hell is a place in the center of the Earth.
Before Jesus arrived on Earth...
Living soles of the Saved AND Unsaved Went TO Hell.
Jesus Taught:
Of a Division IN Hell. (A GREAT Fixed Gulf)
One side was Comfort.
One side was Torments.
Souls could not cross from one side to the other.
However:
They Could:
See each other.
Speak to each other.
Hear each other.
They also could Smell, Taste, Touch.
(The same Senses of a Living Soul IN the body, remain in a Living Soul outside of a dead Body).

After Jesus' Bodily Death, His Body was buried in a Cave. His soul departed His Body and went to the Comfort side of Hell for 3 days. There He preached to Saved Souls.
(Those souls were like imprisoned...Because they could not Leave....Until Jesus' Soul Was there and then Left)
Because ...
Col 1:
[17] And he is before all things...

Jesus' soul after 3 days Returned to His Body and his Body Revived back to Living.
BY the Spirit (POWER) of God, (who IS Christ), His Body was Raised UP.

Thereafter ...
Dead bodies are still buried.
Saved Living souls depart the dead body and go to Heaven, IN Comfort.
Unsaved Living souls depart the dead body and go to Hell, IN Torments.

Both await the Resurrection of their Body's and Judgement.

And BTW...who said anything about Torture?
I didn't. Torments and Torture are not the same thing.

Unsaved souls in hell are Experiencing existence VOID of God and His Light AND Beauty AND Pleasantries.
Hell for the Unsaved Souls is dark, is hot and smells like the putrid smell of sulfur.

Glory to God,
Taken

That is a modern revision to His word. Genesis, as you know, doesn't say how God created life's diversity, except to say that the earth brought forth living things.

And as you also might know, the text of Genesis itself tells us that it's not a literal history, but a figurative account.

It doesn't alter the fact that God's creation did not involve evolution.

HbC. Milano mutation.
Human body temperature decreasing:
Human Body Temperature In The U.S. Has Decreased Over Time, Study Finds

And at the end of the day they are still humans and nothing has changed.

But we are changing in other ways. Genetically, we are quite different than humans who lived just a few tens of thousands of years ago.

And we are still humans that have not become something else as evolutionists would have us believe.

Sorry but I don't understand what you are talking about.
Hi, I'll try to explain. You said to someone promoting evolution, "Please do tell me what things are evolving every day. You know that things that evolutionists claim are millions of years old."

I assumed that you were talking about animals supposedly in transition from one kind of animal to another kind, which is what we should be seeing in everyday life if animals are actually evolving. Those who believe in evolution have their pet "transitional creatures" that they think are evolving, so they will spout off several examples. Of course, there are NO examples of primates becoming human.... You know, ape people who have some characteristics of humans, such as advanced intelligence or speech, but are still animals. Darwin erroneously thought that some dark-skinned humans were examples of this, which is one reason he titled his book On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life. Now scientists know that he was totally wrong about this!

So, I said that I had seen example of intelligent flying monkeys in a movie. I was talking about the The Wizard of Oz. It was a joke. To me, the idea that all that we see in our incredible universe evolved from a primordial pool of goo is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard in my long life!!! Like a pile of metal and plastic being hit by a tornado and becoming a Lamborghini.

Hope all of this makes sense now. :)

No, that's wrong. His account of creation does not mention evolution, or protons, or white blood cells. That doesn't seem to be what He intended to tell us about. However, as you have now learned, evolution is part of His creation.

Yep, just evolved to somewhat different humans. We have lots of examples of macroevolution, if you want to talk about that. This goes back to my observation that most people who think they hate evolution, don't have any idea of what it is.

and nothing has changed.

As you now realized, they have evolved to become more fit. Genetically, we are quite different than humans who lived just a few tens of thousands of years ago.

And we are still humans

Just humans who have evolved to become different, something creationists continue to deny.

I assumed that you were talking about animals supposedly in transition from one kind of animal to another kind, which is what we should be seeing in everyday life if animals are actually evolving.

That's what humans are doing. In just a few tens of thousands of years, we've evolved many new traits. You learned about some of them. Others include a chin (which replaced the "simian shelf" found in archaic H. sapiens and our Neandertal cousins), the ability to digest lactose after weaning, resistance to certain diseases, and so on.

Those who believe in evolution have their pet "transitional creatures" that they think are evolving, so they will spout off several examples. Of course, there are NO examples of primates becoming human....

We, for example ,are primates who are human. As your fellow YE creationist Kurt Wise admits, the large number of transitional forms between forest apes and humans is "very good evidence for macroevolutionary theory."

You know, ape people who have some characteristics of humans, such as advanced intelligence or speech, but are still animals.

As are we. Humans are animals, just animals to which God gives a living soul directly.

Darwin erroneously thought that some dark-skinned humans were examples of this,

No, in fact, he enraged creationists by declaring that if one brought "primitive humans" to England, in a few generations, they'd be just like other Englishmen.

which is one reason he titled his book On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life.

Someone took advantage of you there. That book has nothing whatever in it related to human evolution. "Races", in Darwin's time, meant something like "subspecies", and was not applied to humans by Darwin.

Now scientists know that he was totally wrong about this!

See above. Darwin was one of the first to realize that all humans were essentially one species. As late as the early 1900s one anti-Darwinian biologist (Agassiz) declared that whites and blacks didn't even have a common ancestor, and as late as the 1990s, one prominent YE creationist in America was still blathering about the supposed intellectual and spiritual inferiority of black people. Would you like to see those?

So, I said that I had seen example of intelligent flying monkeys in a movie. I was talking about the The Wizard of Oz. It was a joke. To me, the idea that all that we see in our incredible universe evolved from a primordial pool of goo is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard in my long life!!!

God says that life was brought forth by the Earth. I believe Him. You should, too.

You should spell out the entire title of Darwin's book, which is On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life.

As "Answers in Genesis" admits, the term "races" in Darwin's time meant something like "subspecies" to biologists. Darwin wrote nothing at all about human biology or evolution in that book.

Darwin, like most Europeans of his time, thought Europeans were more advanced than other humans. Unlike most Europeans of his time, he opposed slavery, argued that all men deserved respect and freedom, and (most infuriating to creationists) argued that if you took "primitive people" to England they'd be just like Englishmen in a few generations.

On the other hand, YE creationists were, as late as the 1990s, blathering about the supposed spiritual and intellectual inferiority of black people. Would you like me to show you that?

Bingo!!! Darwin thought whites were superior to blacks. You represent yourself as a person who vehemently opposes racism, so I would think that you would discard Darwin's erroneous ideas. I have.

As "Answers in Genesis" admits, the term "races" in Darwin's time meant something like "subspecies" to biologists. Darwin wrote nothing at all about human biology or evolution in that book.
Did Darwin Promote Racism?

The human heart is a factory for all kinds of evil—including the evil of racism (see Jeremiah 17:9 and Matthew 15:18–19). Still, while Darwin certainly didn’t invent racism, his ideology of evolution has fostered it. Consider the case of Ota Benga—a pygmy from Central Africa, who in 1906 was caged in the Bronx Zoo with an orangutan. Remember the Jews in the gas chambers devised by Hitler to advance the Aryan “master race.” Reflect on the Australian aborigines hunted down in the 1800s by evolutionists in search of the “missing link.”

Descent of Man
The full title of Darwin’s most famous work included some stark words: On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life. Darwin envisioned the spontaneous formation of simple life evolving into higher forms through the pitiless forces of nature selecting the fittest.

Darwin demonstrated how he believed evolution shaped man in his subsequent book The Descent of Man. In it, he theorized that man, having evolved from apes, had continued evolving as various races, with some races more developed than others. Darwin classified his own white race as more advanced than those “lower organisms” such as pygmies, and he called different people groups “savage,” “low,” and “degraded.”

Darwin wasn’t the first to propose biological arguments for racism, but his works fueled the most ugly and deadly racism. Even evolutionist Stephen Jay Gould wrote, “Biological arguments for racism may have been common before 1859, but they increased by orders of magnitude following the acceptance of evolutionary theory” (Ontogeny and Phylogeny, 1977).

Skin Deep
Darwin’s error was later exposed through the field of genetics. What Darwin didn’t know was that people have the same brown-colored skin pigment called melanin. A person’s genetic makeup determines his potential to produce a certain level of melanin. That’s why we see a range of skin shades in people from light to middle brown to dark. Our differences are only skin deep.

Through an understanding of biblical history and genetics, we see that variations in human skin pigmentation are the result of reshuffling the genetic potential of Adam and Eve and later the eight people aboard the Ark. After the scattering at the Tower of Babel, groups of people became more isolated, allowing for concentration of certain variations within those groups. Thus the development of lighter or darker skin in certain demographic groups has nothing to do with molecules-to-man evolution, but only the decreased genetic potential for variation in isolated populations.

One Race—the Human Race
Darwin was wrong. Humans are not split into various races at higher and lower stages of evolution. The Bible makes it clear that God specially created mankind in His image. We are all descendants of Adam, “the first man” (1 Corinthians 15:45), and Eve, “the mother of all living” (Genesis 3:20). So only one race exists—the human race.

God, who made the world … has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord … Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead. (Acts 17:24, 26–27, 30–31)

No matter what your skin color or ethnic background, your critical need is the same as every other person’s: just like Adam, you have rebelled against your holy Creator and must appear before Him one day.

Thankfully, God will judge the world by the Lord Jesus who died on the Cross as the perfect substitute for sinners who turn to Him in repentance and faith. Jesus Christ’s Resurrection was God’s stamp of approval on His Son’s teachings and sacrificial death for our sin. Knowing this, we echo the words of Revelation 5:9, “For You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation.”

Through an understanding of biblical history and genetics, we see that variations in human skin pigmentation are the result of reshuffling the genetic potential of Adam and Eve and later the eight people aboard the Ark.

No, that's not possible. There are many more than 16 alleles for skin color, which is all that 8 people could have. If the Ark story is correct, than all the rest evolved later.

You won't find many biologists who are racists, because evolutionary theory tells us that there are no biological human races. However, one of Darwin's critics (Louis Agassiz) declared that black people were not even descendants of Adam and Eve. Some creationists still hold that belief. But even one of the people who invented YE creationism, Henry Morris, wrote about the supposed intellectual and spiritual inferiority of black people.

Yet the prophecy again has its obverse side. Somehow they have only gone so far and no farther. The Japhethites and Semites have, sooner or later, taken over their territories, and their inventions, and then developed them and utilized them for their own enlargement. Often the Hamites, especially the Negroes, have become actual personal servants or even slaves to the others. Possessed of a genetic character concerned mainly with mundane matters, they have eventually been displaced by the intellectual and philosophical acumen of the Japhethites and the religious zeal of the Semites.
Henry Morris, The Beginning of the World, p. 148

This is one of the important differences between science and creationism. This is not to say that all creationists are racists. Many of the leaders have been, but then many others, particularly outside of the leadership have not been racists, although that is not consistent with YE creationism.

Our differences are only skin deep.

No, that's not quite true, either. For example, most Europeans and Asians have a good number of Neandertal genes, while Africans do not. Some southeast Asians and Pacific Islanders have a good amount of Denesovan genes. One of those genes is the reason that Tibetans can live and reproduce at very high altitudes.

So it's deeper than skin, even if we are all just one biological race.

Bingo!!! Darwin thought whites were superior to blacks.

Pretty much the way all Europeans thought whites were superior to all others. Darwin angered creationists mostly in asserting that it was a matter of environment, and that if you brought "primitive people" to England, in a few generations, they'd be just like Englishmen. He also angered many creationists by opposing slavery, although a few creationists, like Samuel Wilberforce, joined him in advocating abolition. It's no coincidence that creationism is most prevalent in the U.S. where slavery thrived.

You represent yourself as a person who vehemently opposes racism, so I would think that you would discard Darwin's erroneous ideas.

It wasn't his only erroneous idea. He had an incorrect idea of inheritance; if he had known the truth, it would have cleared up a major problem for his theory. And if you have broken with your creationist leaders to also recognize that there are no inferior peoples, just different cultures, then good for you. It's a first step.

Remember the Jews in the gas chambers devised by Hitler to advance the Aryan “master race.”

That's a good example; Hitler's theory was a modification of Martin Luther's paper "On the Jews and Their Lies." Most of the "final solution" can be found in Luther's advice to princes, and the Nazis gave him full credit for it. On the other hand, Darwinists like Punnett and Morgan showed that eugenic ideas like Hitler's were completely wrong. Not only were they evil, they were scientifically impossible.

However, many creationists like ICR co-founder William Tinkle were enthusiastic eugenicists. Would you like me to show you about that?

Again, not all creationists were eugenicists or racists like Hitler. But a disturbing number of their leaders have been. This is, as I said, an important difference between creationism and science.

@Yehren Surely you understand that the wrong opinions of creationists don't change the facts of how God CREATED all that exists. How many evolutionists have held the erroneous idea that blacks are less highly-evolved human animals??? I haven't had time to research this, but I have no doubt that there have been quite a few since evolution was accepted as science. This is the very definition of racism--the belief that lighter-skinned people are superior to darker-skinned people.... The Bible certainly doesn't teach this, and I don't buy into it.

And really, how God created the universe is the main issue. What do you believe about this specifically?

@Yehren Surely you understand that the wrong opinions of creationists don't change the facts of how God CREATED all that exists.

This is true. Creationists agree with other Christians (although not all creationists are Christians) that God created all things. They just don't approve of the way that He created some things.

How many evolutionists have held the erroneous idea that blacks are less highly-evolved human animals???

Fewer than creationists who have thought that blacks are genetically inferior to whites. Especially today, when such opinions are almost exclusively held by creationists. As you learned, Darwin attributed "primitive people" to environment, and enraged creationists when he argued that if you took such people to England, in a few generations, they'd be just like Englishmen. Turns out, he was right, and creationists were (and sometimes are)wrong.

We know that Morris and his fellow creationists were wrong to be racists, given that evolutionary theory has shown there to be no biological human races. But Morris in 1992 wrote.

Institute for Creation Research founder Henry Morris, The Beginning of the World, p. 148

Morris attributed inferiority to dark-skinned peoples. Unlike Darwin, he thought that was an inborn characteristic, not a matter of environment.

This is the very definition of racism--the belief that lighter-skinned people are superior to darker-skinned people.... The Bible certainly doesn't teach this, and I don't buy into it.

The Bible does not teach racism. But it was an integral part of YE creationism. Most creationists have thrown out that error, just as most of them have ceased to deny speciation, and even accept a limited amount of common descent. Creationism has evolved to be less racist and more scientific over the years. But it has a long way to go.

And really, how God created the universe is the main issue. What do you believe about this specifically?

The universe was created ex nihilo. Most everything else was created naturally, by natural processes from pre-created things. Hence, God's word that living things were produced by the earth and waters. Which supports the evidence we have for abiogenesis.

Human souls are a salient exception; these are given directly by God.

Thanks for answering my question. Well, sort of, after lecturing me AGAIN. You know, I really don't need your sanctimonious lectures. :)

Show me in the Bible where God said that the universe was created ex nihilo (out of nothing). And show me where God said that "everything else was created naturally," IOW, evolved by natural processes--"produced by the earth and waters."

So, you believe that God made the "goo"--that primordial pool of amino acids that swirled and began to evolve....
AND SOMEHOW, order NATURALLY resulted from disorder/chaos over a period of millions and millions and millions of years???

Why not just believe what the Bible says--that God "created" EVERY living creature that moves, and He created humans in His own image....?

Genesis 1:20-28 (KJV)
And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
.
