Pray for some wisdom and understanding=== Yes! Those that believe and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior are saved and then will want to obey Jesus and be baptized not to be saved but because they are now saved!!!

That's not what Jesus, Peter and Paul said.

We born-again believers are baptized to obey Jesus NOT in order to be saved but because we have believed and accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior and have been saved and we seek to obey Jesus and be baptized AFTER we are saved!!! Baptizm saves NO one and the proof is a unbeliever can be baptized everyday and still splash down in hell at their death.
Believers bear fruit because we are saved NOT in order to be saved!

That's not what Jesus, Peter and Paul said.

Do you think God just forgot to tell us that we MUST be baptized to be saved???

Romans: Chapter 10 verse 9-10-13 GOD SAYS=

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him
from the dead, thou shalt be Saved. For with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession
is made unto Salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the
name of the Lord shall be Saved..........

While a man may or might receive the Holy Ghost merely by asking (Luke 11:9-13), I would suggest fulfilling the condition of the (conditional) promise found in Acts of the Apostles 2:38-39 to be absolutely certain that you have the Holy Ghost; for He is absolutely promised to those who receive baptism in His name for the remission of their sins.

An unsaved person can be baptized and have it save them...

Repenting alone is incomplete. Being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth for the remission of sins will complete what is otherwise incomplete; and will fulfill the condition of a promise...

In Acts of the Apostles 2:38-39 we have the promise of the Holy Ghost, given conditionally...and the condition is to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth for the remission of sins.

So then, if you fulfill the condition, you will receive the promise.

Is not the receiving of and indwelling of the Holy Ghost, salvation?

Therefore if anyone repents and is baptized in Jesus' Name, they will be saved as the result; if they were not saved previous to that.

If you merely believe then you "should not perish"....iffy

If you believe and are baptized you "shall be saved."...this is more absolute terminology.

So if you want to take chances, mere faith is all you need.

But if you want to be sure, I would encourage you to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth for the remission of sins.

For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off; even to as many as the Lord our God shall call (Acts of the Apostles 2:39).

(also take a wild peek at Romans 8:30).

You can surely be saved apart from being baptized (Romans 10:13)...

But that you can be saved through believer's baptism is an established fact of holy scripture.

Mar 16:16, He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

1Pe 3:20, Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
1Pe 3:21, The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

And most assuredly, while baptism does not put away the filth of the flesh, it does wash away sins:

Act 22:16, And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Pay special attention to The Fact That the second part of the sentence leaves out the word” baptized” when it speaks of Damnation.....
Of course...

I maintain that baptism is not necessary for salvation (Romans 10:13); but that if you receive baptism in Jesus' Name you will definitely be saved (receive the Holy Ghost).

"He who believes and is baptized will be saved"
What part of and is baptized do you not understand?

Peter says " Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you,"

What part of Baptism now saves you do you not understand?

Jesus said "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. "

What part of "unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God" do you not understand?

Yes!!! Those that believe and become born-again ==Jesus says they should be baptized==Not to be saved but because they are saved!!

I must agree with Mungo, scripture does NOT say "should be baptized".

Baptism is a command, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" (Matthew 28:19).

Acts 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

In fact, that same apostle, Paul, who wrote Romans chapter 10 as quoted in the OP - is the same who also wrote in that very same Book...

Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
[5] For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
[6] Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

God Bless!

An example prayer for those that have never talked to God!

Heavenly Father:........................................... ...............................
I come to you in prayer asking for the forgiveness of
my Sins. I confess with my mouth and believe with my
heart that Jesus is your Son, And that he died on the
Cross at Calvary that I might be forgiven and have
Eternal Life in the Kingdom of Heaven. Father, I believe
that Jesus rose from the dead and I ask you right now
to come in to my life and be my personal Lord and
Savior. I repent of my Sins and will Worship you all the
day's of my Life!. Because your word is truth, I confess
with my mouth that I am Born Again and Cleansed
by the Blood of Jesus! In Jesus Name, Amen
Incorrect.

The way to be saved is to first obey Acts 2:38.

The way to REMAIN saved is to confess and believe per the letter(epistle) you quoted to the saved saints.

Mk 16:16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved"

1Pet 3 " Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you,"

Ti 3:5 "he saved us, not because of deeds done by us in righteousness, but in virtue of his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit"

John 3:5 "Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. "
Amen, remission of sins is only acquired through water baptism.

The problem with this quote is that it puts a wall around this text and ignores the rest of scripture. There are several passages in scripture that give an abbreviated summary of what is necessary for salvation.

Jesus preached that one must "repent and believe" (Mk 1:15)

Jesus told the rich young man he must "keep the commandments" to be saved. (Mt 19:17); no mention of believing

Peter responds to the question "Brethren what must we do (Acts 2:37) by saying Repent, and be baptised everyone of you" (Acts 2:39). Again no mention of believing.

Paul and Silas said the Jailer “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” (Acts 16:31), No mention of confessing with lips or repentance. Moreover if you take it literally then the rest of the household did not need to believe - just the jailer himself.

Paul writes to Titus he saved us….. through the water of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit." (Titus 3:5). No mention there i=os confessing with lips or even believing.

If Rom 10:9-10-13 is taken to be the complete plan of salvation then what bout repentance, keeping God's commandments. If you need to "confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord" then does that mean that a person who is mute cannot be saved?

A complete plan of salvation includes all relevant scripture passages.

What do you think "He who believes and is baptized will be saved" means?
Those that have believed and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior will then obey and be baptized!!! DUH!!!

Excellent point. Many seem to overlook the fact the epistles were written to the church, SAVED PEOPLE!

How did they get saved...

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

God Bless!
