Deuteronomy 5:31-33 But as for thee, stand thou here by Me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it. Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.
Leviticus 11:1-2 And the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.
11:43-44 Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby. For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
11:46-47 This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth: To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.
Leviticus chapter eleven deals with clean and unclean foods in which....
Leviticus 11:1-2 And the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.
Why? Was it because He wanted to restrict certain tasty foods to be mean? Was it to tempt us to see if we follow His words...or not? No....it is because the foods He listed made a distinction between the clean, healthy foods and the unclean or abominable foods.
I see these restrictions referring to both spiritually unclean or abominable creatures as well as physically unclean foods. For instance, swine are symbolic of false preachers. Their words, if taken in, make us unclean. Their flesh, if taken in, make us unclean too.....they cause illness of the spirit and the body.
Our Father commands these things "that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess." Were those instructions for our health nullified when our Savior was crucified?
